This is the location at which new question sets for the WTP will be posted. It is not the place to ask questions about the WTP (obviously, since it's locked). You can do that HERE (http://www.enchantedquill.net/showthread.php?t=32).
New sets will be, obviously, the newest post to this thread.
I suggest you follow the previous link before playing. It contains the rules and guidelines.
You may submit answers up to but no later than the time at which i post to announce that the week is closed for new submissions. I will do this by way of posting in this thread.
Good luck!

Well, here it is, the very first edition of the WTP's incarnation at the enchanted quill. Hopefully this is something people will participate in around here. I'm out of the habit of this, so my first few sets of questions may be me testing the waters again. Not sure if they'll be too difficult, or too easy. Hopefully people will stick with it long enough for me to adjust.
Anyway, without further ado...
1. How many mass extinction events have been in earth's history that we know of? What were the causes?
2. Where do fashion "trends" come from and why should i care?
3. If a person exercises vigorously throughout their life, how much will it add to my lifespan on average? What will the majority of this extra time be spent doing?
4. What's the worst form of transportation? Why?
5. If there's one thing everyone ought to do in their life, what is it? why?
There you go, have fun with it. I will post again when submissions are closed. The ending for this will be in one week, September 22.

First week showed a little bit of an upset in the ranks. Mes, who had never played before, captured the win with LT, who never wins. :p Not to mention the reigning queen of WTP, anita, didn't get a best. ~shock~ So, we move on to 1.1.
Here you are....have at them.
1. According to the Bible, how long was Noah on board the ark? Bonus: How many of each animal did Noah take on board with him?
2. Give me two examples of a non-primate species making and using a tool.
3. If you could genetically enhance your children before they were born to be, say, super-intelligent, would you?
4. What are two good ways to save energy?
Only four this week, let's see what you've got. Good luck.
Submissions due by Monday, September 29.

Due to yesterdays outage of the site for at least 24 hours...i'm extending the deadline of the WTP at least another day. If you'd like to play but that still won't accomodate you, let me know.

Well, second week and you're neck in neck. Quite a nice game we've got going here. First point for getting in could be worth quite a lot in the end.... Last week, and then we'll have a grand champ. Good luck.
Here you are....have at them.
1. What is the naturalistic fallacy?
2. How many days are there in a week?
3. What is the single nutrient a vegetarian can't get in their normal diet?

Well, i thought i'd get this done tonight (wed) but it looks like i'm not going to. My apologies to those of you playing. I'll definitely make time for it tomorrow.
If you'll notice, i've changed the weekly times for the WTP from mondays to wednesdays, so it shouldn't be a problem.
Submissions are NOT closed, although i expect there'll be no more entries between no and then anyhow. Oh well.

New season starts right now. This is the time to get in on it if you wish to be a contender for the Grand Champion of a season. Might make this next season four weeks long instead of three. Not sure about that yet. Have a few ideas for WTP structure i might be trying out. We'll see.
Here you are....have at them.
1. Given that 1.)a god exists and 2.)said god is omnipotent then: Could this god create a rock that it would not be able to lift? Why or why not?
2. Tell me what a THAC0 is and how it works.
3. Witches are said to fly on a broomstick. What is a likely candidate for the origins of this legend?
4. How many gallons of water would there be in a mile if the mile is 1 centimeter tall and 1 finger wide? In the US please.(This should be a gimme, but if there are any questions as to what i mean exactly, i'll be more than happy to answer them. ;) )
Alright, new season is up and going.
Answers will be due a week from next wednesday. I think that's October 22.

Well, i'm going to do something a little out of the ordinary here. But, like i say, i make the rules so... ;) Instead of waiting until i've posted the results for last episode, i'm going to just put up the new set of questions, as i've already dallied for too long. I'll get the results for last week up as soon as possible, i've just had a busy last two weeks. Hopefully that means i'll have a slow next couple of weeks. hopefully.
Here you are....have at them.
1. Would the development of strong artificial intelligence be a good thing or a bad thing? Why?
2. Which of these two following statements makes more sense? Why?
A. Opposites attract.
B. Birds of a feather flock together.
3. What's the longest monosyllabic word in the english language?
4. Imagine you are an alien visitor who comes to earth at a time far in our future. You find an object that we know as a toilet, but don't know what it's for. You also know that the human race existed, once upon a time. What would you guess humans used the toilet for?
5. And in the spirit of Halloween... What's The best Halloween Costume EVER? (or if you'd prefer, share a funny halloween story.)
Okay, there you go people, a new week.
Answers will be due in a week. Novermber 5.

~sigh~
at this point LT wins by default. do you really want that people? huh? huh?
sir archely
November 12th, 2003, 22:07
Sorry about this to all the people who chipped in in an attempt to deny LT, but it's looking like i'm not going to get to it tonight. Only chance is if i finish my paper late enough in the morning that going to bed isn't worth it anymore. Then the judging (and especially addition of points) is going to be very interesting, to say the least. ;) Anyway, my sincerest apologies to you all. I'm also going out of town for the weekend, so i have no idea when i'll actually get to this. Friday during the day is looking like my best option, so look for it there. Thanks again for playing. :)

New questions. Hopefully i'll see some faces returning...
Here you are....have at them.
1. I am a man. I live with someone I refer to as my son. Some would call this person my brother. In fact, depending on how you look at it, he could be both. My mom has nothing whatsoever to do with it. How could this be so?
2. Try to describe to me why we have seasons without consulting any source. (I know this would be easy enough to look up, but it'd be more fun if you just give it a shot. ;) )
3. In the Simpsons episode where a meteor (or comet, whatever) was going to hit Springfield, (the one that Bart discovered) How big did the rock actually end up being? And what did it destroy? (this should be a fairly easy one, i'm told my simpsons trivia questions are usually too hard. )
4. What is a 'space elevator' and what would it be made of?
5. Should I judge the WTP only every two weeks (as has been happening) or still try to stick to the every week way?
Okay, there you go people, a new week.
Answers will be due next wed.. Novermber 19.

New questions. Hopefully i'll see some faces returning...
Here you are....have at them.
1. What is the perfect food for snacking? why?
2. Your task is you make up a word with a definition. In addition, during the next two weeks, you must use it twice in posts here at the quill. It must be your own creation, and it must be used in context. I'll do a search when i judge.
3. Does shaving make the hair where you shave thicker, or come in more?
4. Attached to this post is a picture. Where is this building and what is its purpose? Not sure about this last one, I hope it isn't too easy or too hard.
Okay, there you go people, a new week. Good luck.
Answers will be due in two weeks on wed.. January 17th. (the day of my last final! woo!)

well, what with fiancee visits and family visits, i've been offline for a long time and WTP suffers. i'm not sure how many people have submitted but... i'm making the new deadline a week from today, Jan 17th. A month late seems like a good time.

just to answer for real the stupid question.
it's simple. when people lose interest in WTP, it stops. ~shrug~ If i don't get enough entries, i don't do it.
