Upgrade

Well, you may have noticed that we've done a tiny bit of upgrading. There's a whole lot of new stuff around.

I'm sure there are issues here and there. We're also running a beta version of this forum, so there are bugs.

Just let us know what weird things you run into.
And let us know what cool things you've found :)

At the bottom of the forums are links like 'Contact Us'. And thats all well and good, but they are in black text on black backgrounds so the appear invisible.

well, the reputation box still has black letters against the dark star field. you can only really understand what it is if you highlight it.

Actually, it looks like the box where it says "Welcome, [USERNAME]. You last visited..." is carried through the boards, if you could get it on that...well it would be cool. You could see who's in chat from everywhere :D

Yeah, that looks like a neat new feature. As long as it doesn't get abused, it might be fun. You can see your reputation that others have given you on your control panel.

heh, one of the first things i did was to give you a rep point for absnot, because i could. :D

looks like someone got into the rep thing, since we're all on a distinguished road now. heh.

oh, and i'd like to say i like the new quote tags. you just put {quote=USERNAME} and it fills in the italics and bolding and stuff. and you still just close it with {/quote}. really handy. i think it's kinda backwards from the old ones though. the old way it did it was to make the username italic and the text bold, and this one is the other way around.

I just noticed that on Who's Online, everybody looks the same. It used to be mods were in bold and admins in bold italics. Is this the way its supposed to be?

Well, it's back now, and if you don't see it, that's because no one is in chat. It only shows up when somebody is in chat. It showing on the frontpage of the forum (see pic)

wait....I'm hearing some noise...something annoying....sarcasm like....but nothing sounding remotely like a helpful suggestion of their own :p

I dunno for sure but I did like it up near the top back in VB2 so when you load up the page you can see it right in front of you, no scrolling, etc.

oh, and i came to report i'm having issues with the new way of attaching pics. i click manage attachments, browse, get the pic i want, try to add it, (nothing visible happens) and then click i'm done or whatever. no pic. :cry:

Well, check the size of the pic. Maybe it's too big. I don't think there's a warning of any kind

I dunno for sure but I did like it up near the top back in VB2 so when you load up the page you can see it right in front of you, no scrolling, etc.Ok, as a temp measure, I've made a pic that will show up in the center of the title bar at the top of the forum home page. It will ONLY show up when there's someone in chat, so move your behind to chat and see if the pic shows up there.
When you see it, hold your mouse over it...

Like I said, it's just a temp thingie for the sole purpose of showing what's possible. Stuff to think about and what we can actually do with it.

I know, I know, right now you can't change that. It's something I have in mind, but umm, don't expect it to be solved tomorrow or something. In the mean time I'll change it for you.

Before the server went down, I did do another upgrade on the forum. We're running beta software, so there's going to be more upgrades in a short time space.

This version includes a lot of bugs, and I expect the next one will too, so if you notice anything that looks out of the ordinary, speak up, yell, scream :D

Not out of the ordinary but I was wondering if you'll be allowing images in posts eventually or are they going to have to be always be as attachments.

Hehe, they ARE always attachments :p

Just the way to show them differs, three options:
as text links (click and they'll pop pup)
as thumbnails like now (click and they'll pop pup)
or as real sized pics.


I like the current way. Small thumbnails that give you a pretty good idea of the pic itself. Nobody's forced to download a dozen huge pics before finally seeing a thread, if you allow a mild exxageration(?)

True....buuuut I just like being able to put img in the posts like I do for the pics page or will do for avatar wars...makes it look nice and all. Though I do understand the reasoning for the way it is now, and for larger pictures it is better to have thumbnails.
