This is the thread where anyone wishing to participate in Avatar Wars will announce that they are playing for a certain week, ask questions or post comments concerning the War. Basically post anything related to the game here. This is the public thread for the game while the other two threads are purely administrative and thus will remain locked.

The official way to enter an avatar for a week will be to post a response on this thread saying
"I am submitting my avatar for this week"*

*have had confusion in the past with whether someone had actually submitted an avatar or not for a week so please use that phrase to eliminate any possibility of error, thx.

AVATAR WARS IS OFFICIALLY OPEN!

But before we begin submitting avatars for the next battle there are a few details that need to be taken care of...namely naming new judges.

Any and all submissions for a seat on the permanent panel of judges will be welcome. Though I do reserve the right choose those I see best fit my first goal of creating the most balanced panel as possible. Thus, I would like both a male and female judge if at all possible.

PM me if you would like to be considered for the judge position. There are only 2 seats open so don't delay! (but this is not to say that the first 2 people who PM me will get it. Just don't take forever to let me know ;) )

I'll post again when no more submissions will be accepted.

Yeah I know I'm a little behind... :blush: buuuut I've been having a little trouble in choosing who to pick as the other two judges, considering the applicants all are very qualified and have their respective pros and cons. Though submissions for the first week will still start on monday so I do have "officially" til then to do it.

Well after much (very much ;) ) careful deliberation I have finally come to a painful decision on who will be the other two judges for Avatar Wars. Now for those of you who didn't make it, do not assume it was anything personal, I made my decision based on having the fairest and most balanced panel as possible. Everyone who entered would have made a fine judge, but sadly only 2 were possible.

heh, anyway...

First, a note on my scoring. I start with an average score of 5.5 and adjust from there. Some of the points are gained/lost on whether I just like/dislike the image, and some are by the quality of the pic itself. Beyond that, its not very quantitative ;)

Drumroll please...

Epiph - Princess - Nice...manages to pack drama and emotion into a small size. Probably not as clear as it could be, but the profile and posture show through, and thats whats important, IMO.

Waffles - sniper kitty - Amusing, if twisted. Could definately have been cropped a little closer for clarity.

KA3AK - Jazz - I think I might have played this game somewhere along the line. Animations not bad at all for the size limitations.

Archely - Quill - Good effort to play to the judges biases. Unfortunately, the pic falls flat--except where its supposed to (it has some jagged edges).

Lakai - Strawberry Shortcake - Well, it shouldn't come as a surprise that the avatar mean very little to me, but it means something to you...so thats ok. Good quality, nice bright color.

And my pick for best of the bunch this week....Princess, by Epiph! :thup:

Epiph - Stylish, I liked how it flowed very well with the title. Though arch has me wondering if it really is avatar porn :D

Waffles - Seen it a lot on the net they have a whole series now I think...still pretty funny though

Epiph - Foot porn - umm...I really don't know what to say beyond the score I give. Except perhaps maybe feet isn't such a good idea. Also, its not entirely clear what it is, which makes it even more frightening.

Fencing Fool - Long John Silvers evil twin - Its too dark, but the background is very cool anyway ;)

Amaia - Thai Dancer - You did a good job in sizing/cropping from the original. Clear, sharp, good color. Cool pic!

Waffles - Face Killed - You're just insane...this is pretty much how I picture you all the time :p But, I just don't get the strange self pic thing...

KA3AK - Voltaire - Too dark and too much detail to try to squeeze into an avatar, IMO.

Archely - Hellsing - Very odd...I'm not so sure I like this guy sizing my up like that... ~,~

KA3AK - Nuke - Scary. I think you could have trimmed the thing down to get rid of some of the empty black space. Animation ~nods~

Waffles - Fridge - I have a feeling I've seen this somewhere before...heh. Still, if nothing else, its very 'you'.

Wiggin - Neo - Cool pic. A little dark, but thats expected. Something like this probably would have scored higher before I saw the second movie (and will hopefully score better after the third)

Wiggin - Excellent, combines both a nice stylish look and a cool character.

Epiph - Very stylish, and chic. Almost a noir art type feel. but it's still just a foot ;)

Waffles - Yeah I know the whole fridge of aussie love bit, and though it means little to me, the reason you got average points is cause the image is pretty low quality.

KA3AK - Pretty good animation, but a little rough in spots.

Agh! Do you have any idea how much it annoys me when people do things like that? And don't even MENTION those heathens who choose to take the stickers off to solve it... not only ruining a good Rubik's cube, but potentially making it unsolvable if they only do it halfway. Grr. :)

Dregs - Man, brings back memories...though what really gave it a ten was the facial expression :D Almost as if he's reading some of these posts hehe

Epiph - Something about the balance of the ying and yang really appeals to me, a soothingness to the eye or something. The added anime chicks are a plus though heh.

Wiggin - Strong entry, but not the same caliber as before though still quite stunning.

Archely - It's so had to judge yours...I love alucard, and hellsing, thus you get coolness and style points, but then it also works against you in that there are so many awesome pics of him that it's critical picking just the right one over the many others. Really it's just cause your the arch -(pun oy)- nemesis of my avatar :D

Well...this time it was the other judges who where late, I was ready come Monday and yet no scores had came in. Since no one deemed it important enough to remember I had hoped Arch would submit one before the other judges sent in their scores considering he's one of the four who's really close for the champion title this go round. Alas it wasn't to be, and I've been busy all day and haven't had a chance to get on the computer til...hrm well just now, 4:40am heh. As for epiph, that indeed is my fault, she had submitted before monday, for which if malc would be kind enough to send in a score for you I'll add you in.

So yeah....once that comes in I'll post the results. As for me....bed.
