wow that is really cool. I'd seen a doco on planet finding and how all the ones they've found have elliptical orbits. This is very exciting, plus the doco I saw was from about 5 years ago and they'd only foudn about 11 planets at that time (thats from memory so I could be wrong) so obviously they are just getting better and better at finding them. How exciting :)

This is also cool cos only ten years ago before this method, the scientists were laughing at the few who were trying to detect planets and the general concensus was it was extremely unlikey they existed and if they did we would never know so it wasn't worth trying. A good dose of skepticism is healthy for any scientist, but discounting possibilities is not, as history has shown time and time again. If people did not doubt them selves so much we'd probably be so much further ahead.
