weeeird. There's this little person living in our apartment. It's so surreal. I haven't yet gotten used to the idea that she's here to stay. To think she was inside my body not 10 days ago... it's too strange to ponder for long.

It's strange to be a new mom. It's kind of like being a teenager again. I have no job to report to every day. I'm all sorts of hormonal & crazy mood-swingy. I'm up till dawn almost every day. I am becoming familiar again with the TV schedule for insomniacs, lol.

The bonding thing. I don't get it. Or at least it's not what I expected it to be. I didn't have that moment after the birth or when I held her for the first time where everything changed. I still am feeling pretty much in shock. I don't really feel like that much has changed.

Is it weird that I keep forgetting her name?

my little one has been keeping me on a very short string these past two days or so. Up all night, insisting on being held even while sleeping, crying for no reason (altho her "pouty face" is adorable -cracks up me & chrono!), eating every hour or two. I have no time for anything else. Plus it's so hard to do things like paying attention and making decisions when you're SO overtired.

Sometimes chrono asks me a question and it's all I can do to just look at him. Plus I haven't been eating or drinking as much as I should. Doc says I have to eat, drink and rest plenty to keep the breast milk quantity up. I can't imagine when I'm supposed to do these things.

People keep telling me I have to talk to her. But what do you say when you're completely exhausted and your audience gives no response beyond blank stare?

I think it's weird that one of the first questions people keep asking me after the initial "baby info" is: Are you breastfeeding? I mean, to me it feels kind of like a personal question... what business is it of yours what I'm doing with my breasts? I would never think to ask a new mom that question. It would never even occur to me!

Baby Gwen is finally becoming interactive. She's starting to smile & recognize things (like the bottle, lol) and she's reaching for things. Last Wed she weighed in at 9lbs 4oz, she'd gained a lb per week! She's a little chunk now, lol. It's SO much easier to talk to her now that she seems to respond. She's getting all wide-eyed & fascinated about things. And she's doing that thing where she lies on her back & flails her limbs about happily which is hysterical! She also becomes entranced at nothing... she'll be staring in awe at the corner or the ceiling for 10 minutes at a time, sometimes even smiling & giggling. Chrono thinks she sees faeries. :D

OMG baby is soo cute. Today she found her thumb for a moment. She's been searching for it for weeks. She got it & was so happy and then it slipped out. She was PISSED!

So yeah, so far she looks mostly like me with darker blue eyes, but with my dad's nose, which is awesome cause my dad has the best nose in the family. She has chrono's temper and much of his temperment really. She may see invisible faeries but she loves dragons and loves to stare in awe at all his dragon things. She especially loves firey dragons & fire breathing dragons.

She's starting to giggle & coo a lot. She's interested in seeing new things all the time, which is cool but kind of frustrating b/c we're running out of new things to show her. Toys only hold interest for three days or so before they become passe and she wants something new & exciting to hold her interest. Luckily her memory is short so they become new again after a week or so. Hopefully this is the symptom of an active mind & she'll be uber smart. I think it's a good bet with her genes. She's stared actually WATching the TV so we'll have to be careful with that.

OH, so she's got this mobile above the crib with these three white bears. They aren't electronic but you can manually spin them around. She's always liked the white bears but this weekend Chrono called me in to the bedroom to show me how she was giggling at them. He was spinning them and she was grinning & giggling like crazy. She totally forgot we were even there, she was so absorbed with the spinning bears.

So Monday I put her down for a nap & she woke 10 minutes later. I was all like YAY she's sleeping I have time for BREAKFAST :D and then I hear her wimper. I'm all  So I go in and she's all poutyface with the lower lip stuck out & the eyes all about to go teary. I go, "what's the matter, Peanut?" and I give the bears a spin. She INstantly goes grinning. Like full toothless YIPPEE! kind of grin. I was all, 'You little brat! You just wanted someone to come and spin the bears for you." :dozey: I stood there & spun the bears for 20 minutes while she ignored me completely & just giggled & cooed & kicked her feet excitedly in her little feetsy pajamas and flailed her arms about gleefully. It was hysterical!

Today she got her first vaccinations. She was SOOO good, only cried for like 30 seconds after the shot, then we gave her a bottle & she was all better. I can't believe I have such a good daughter. I never thought I deserved a good child since I was such an awful one. Altho time will still tell I don't think I got really bad till 14 or so.

Oh, and for the record, feetsy pajamas ROCK!!! Cutest Funnest most comfy article of clothing EVER!!! :quirk:

My daughter has 3 Halloween costumes.

I personally think this is a bit overkill. One is from her aunt, chrono's sister. One is from my mom's friend, and one is from a good friend of ours, one of Lady Fate's sisters. (yeah, yeah I"ll post pics) My sis in law begged me to dress her up for Halloween. I'm all like... if you really want, she hates getting her clothes changed. I'm not going to dress her up (I don't see the necessity, she'll be 4 months old, she won't care about candy or dress-up) but if you want to... So we're going over Nana's house for dress-up and photo ops. ~sigh~ my poor kid.

Incidentally, I mentioned to Lady Fate, I wonder how old she'll be when I'll get to choose her costumes. She told me (quite wisely, in genuine Fate-ly fashion) that I won't ever get to b/c by the time everyone else stops getting her costumes, she'll be demanding what she wants herself.

today Ms. Skye has her first headcold. :( She's all stuffy/runny and cough/sneezy. But she's in surprizingly good spirits nonetheless. Such a good girl.

She also waved today for the first time! Chrono waved at her from across the room & she thought about it, picked up her right arm & waved back! We were so impressed!

This week, my daughter wants to be a forest ranger / astronaut / chef when she grows up. :)

She was a cow for Halloween, we'll post a pic when it's uploaded.

Today we are bringing her to the store for the first time. :D She'll experience the Bed, Bath & Beyond, because we need a Humidifier & we have a million coupons. *cheer4coupons*

my daughter has a magick thumb. Two of them, actually. Whenever she wishes, she just inserts said thumb into her mouth & it magically transports her to dreamland. :D If she wakes and makes pouty-face because she doesn't want to be awake, she flails about for a moment as if to say, "Thumb! Where on earth is that blasted thumb!" Then she finds it and after some careful aiming, she is asleep once more.

Also, so cute - Lady Fate told us this (she's the one who watches Gwen while we're working, don't know if you guys knew that) - The baby has just in the past week or so started to realize that Odin (LF & Everhate's little mop of a dog) is actually alive. So Gwen is propped up on one end of the couch & Odin is at his usual spot right below her feet. (Odin likes the baby) So Gwen has this little stuffed pink Unicorn & is holding it when Odin decides he wants the toy. So Odin is trying to take the toy from the baby, & Gwen is kicking Odin and finally Lady Fate had to put her foot down & take the Unicorn away. "If you guys can't play nicely neither of you can have it." LOL! :quirk:

Did I ever mention I'm teaching Gwen her vowels? I can't recall. Anyway, I've been giving each letter a week and have focused on the two sounds each letter makes and words that start with that letter. Yes, everyone laughs at me because she's "too young". But I figure it always gives me something to talk to her about and it forces me to seek out a wider range of volcabulary for her to listen to, which I understand is important. Besides, I figure if I do a letter a week, with consonants starting after vowels, it'll give me 6 months of material. :) Altho I have been remiss in adding on to each letter from the previous week, instead I've kind of ONLY been working on "O" (this week's letter) instead of AEI AND O. So I think before I start the consonants but after "U" I'll do a week of review and cover all 5 vowels at once. :) Gwen seems to enjoy the lessons.

The Peanut is a tough critic, very difficult to impress. You show her a new toy, she's far more likely to quirk an eyebrow & give her, "Hmm, interesting" face than to smile. In large groups of people, she's not visibly bothered, not restless or cranky or anything, but she needs some time to warm up before she'll open up & talk or crack any kind of smile. It's hysterical to see people bending over backwards practically making fools of themselves trying to make her smile before she's ready.

She's delighting now, in being able to reach & grab things. She may not even have a use for it once she has it, often it just gets dropped, but she's fascinated by her own ability to bring something to her. She's still fascinated by hands of all kinds. She stares at her own, and sometimes she'll grab yours & stare at it intently. She is an intent kid, very focused on whatever it is that has her interest.

right, sorry, bout that last post. I just mean it was like, we were in the middle of our lives, not young anymore, well into things. Except now we're a brand new family, just starting out. Back at the beginning again. A new life. Make sense?

Ah, the Peanut. She is... amazing. Every time I look into her face she is amazing. She's got a new smile, a wide-open-mouthed smile of awe and wonder. It's terribly infectious. And she's table-walking now. It's HYSTErical b/c she's so tiny and is toddling around. She's 16 lbs now. Just a little Peanut. Strangers keep asking me if she's like 3-4 months old and I"m like, no, 8. Eight months old. I can't believe we have one of these. Especially one as cool as Gwendolyn Skye. ~sigh~ It's a crazy life.

Being a new mom, maybe this is the same all the time once you're a mom, time will tell, but it's just like falling in love. There's this thing like at the end of the day at work, where as soon as I'm off the clock she's on my mind & I can't wait to see her. Holding her is like a drug. It's addicting. I can see how people are always like, 'oh I wish my kid was little again'; it's because it's only when they're really little that they let you hold them like that. Gwen's already starting to get squirmy & independent. I love the smell of her. I love to gaze wonderingly into her eyes & I'd do anything to make her laugh. Or even smile. I keep waiting to find out just ONE more thing about who she is, what makes her tick, what she thinks about things. Plus I get to share with her all sorts of things from my life.

Being a mom is exhausting, almost above all else. I'm desperate to sneak in just 15 minutes of extra sleep just about any time, any where. I'm just as desperate to sneak 15 minutes to wash bottles or tidy up my apartment. It's a constant struggle and very frustrating not to have enough time in the day. Plus work is, well, you all know how I feel about work. My career is really taking a turn right now because my office is in the process of really becoming a large corporation, which is really exciting and I'm having so much fun, altho it's a constant challenge, I'm learning a lot about how to really be management properly. So yeah, being a mom is ridiculously exhausting, but Gwen, she is wonderful. Just like... amazing. ~sighs dreamily~

The Peanut has her fathers sense of humor exactly. Random oddness makes her laugh.

Yesterday chrono was feeding her cheerios & I came over and asked if I could have one... she smiled sweetly, reached for a cheerio... and promptly fed it to her dad, the whole time looking at me and smiling. ~rolleyes~

Today we were playing on the bed and there was some clean laundry that needed to be put away. She took a sock & was waving it around. Chrono asked her for it, and she stuffed it in his mouth. She thought it was awfully funny.

In case there was any question whether the faerie blood would carry on...

we were exiting a Diner the other day, saying our farewells on the entrance steps, when a couple of leather clad bikers were leaving. They started their bikes up & Gwen turned towards the very loud growls. As they pulled out of the parking lot & headed down the street, Gwen, still in my arms on the steps, waved. They both turned, smiled and waved back. Too funny.

She's still playing with this giant balloon her aunt got for her bithday 2 weeks ago. It's got to be 3 feet across but it's mylar so it's still got some air left, still floats. She likes to take it by the string & carry it around the apartment. She's walking, now, by the way. She took her first steps right around 10 months, before Falcon Ridge she was walking 5 or 6 steps at a time, still crawling about 75% of the time. After living on a hill at Falcon Ridge for 4 days, tho, where she could barely keep her balance at all, she returned home and hardly ever crawled again.

Thursday night chrono & I had our first night off in at least 3 months. Nana & Aunt Jessica took her for a few hours so we could have a nice dinner alone. When we picked her up, they were watching 'Happy Feet'. When she saw the penguins dancing, she started stomping her feet. It's TOO much!!!!

She's also started, just in the last couple of days, clapping along to music. She did it last night to a Johnny Cash/ June Carter duet on Walk The Line, and again tonight to Jack Black on School of Rock. Funny, you'd never believe by this paragraph how little TV we watch these days, but it's true. Generally we don't turn the TV on before 9pm.

Anyway, yeah. She points to airplanes and says, "zzzz". She sticks her nose into flowers and snorts (sniffs), & when she giggles, an angel gets his wings. These are Good Days. Exhausting, but good. :)

Peanuts' new thing is when she reaches for something she's not allowed, chrono and/or I go, NO! and she picks up the thing anyway and, smiling, brings it to us, as if to say, 'I was just getting this for YOU'. We can hardly chastise her for bringing it to us or she'll just run with it. Smartie pants. :dozey:

In other, more amusing news, Peanut smacked Daddy today. Across the face. With... a fish. :p We were hysterical. Yes, it was a stuffed fish, doesn't make it any less funny.

I still can't believe I have one of these. I'm even more stunned that I have such a Good One. YAY me!!! (er, us!)

The last three days, Peanut has started saying, "Pa". ALL the time. Everything is "Pa". She points to a banana, "PA?" she points to a flower, "PA?" she points to mommy's nose, "PA?" Or she plays with her toys, all the while babbling to herself, "pa pa papa pa pa pA!" It's about the most adorable thing ever. Her tiny little voice just mesmerizes. I have a little video of her in a little Pa prose, so happy. :)

Sometimes I find a little bruise on her. I think, is that a spot of dirt or a bruise? and I poke it. Then I realize I won't feel the pain because it's not my bruise. :dozey:

If I lie on the ground, she loves to climb on me. We call it "climbing Mt. Mommy"

my mom says I have to write these things down, so when we read them years from now we'll find them funny. I dunno, I kinda find them funny now. :)

also, "PA" is still prominent in her dialect. She sometimes says things, like the other day I could swear she said, "carrot". It would be her second 2 syllable word (her first being "Kaeden" when our friends had their son sitting in Gwen's high chair). Everyone in the room (4 people) heard her say it. But she wouldnt repeat it. And she still won't. She does that often, say something once & then never again.

People ask me if she is speaking. I always answer, "Yes, but she's not speaking English yet." I am starting to think it's Japanese. She says things like, "Pa" "Mau" "Tapa" "Bau".

ok for posterity: (some day I'm going to print out this whole thread & put it in her baby book).

It's funny how you forget how amazing it can be just to learn the most basic of concepts...

This weekend she tried to drink water from a cup & of course spilled it all over the kitchen floor. She spontaneously went & got the kitchen towel & wiped her mouth & then brought it over to the spill & wiped up the floor. Chrono was freaking out, "Are you seeing this???"

and last night during her bath, she took the bottle of soap (I always shut it after I pour some in my hand so it was no biggie that she wanted to play with it) and she turned it upside down & pretended to pour some in her hand, then she placed the bottle carefully on the ledge of the bathtub, then she rubbed her hands together & then rubbed her tummy. On this one, I was freaking out, "chrono, you gotta come see this!"

It's remarkable the things she's picking up without us trying to teach her. She's really mimicking a lot now.

And she says, "UP" in THE most incredible voice. As she's walking up stairs, it's "up up up up up". TOO MUCH!!!

So her first real words: "Cheese" and "UP" and of course, "daddy" and "mamamamama". She's also working on "apple". She's got the "aaa..." and sometimes she adds the "po".

Also she's gotten so used to me constantly telling her to shut the cabinets she's not supposed to have opened in the first place, haha, that now noone is allowed to open a cabinet. You have to be quick quick because if you need to take something out, before you know it, tiny feet have run up behind you & tiny hands are slamming the door.

OH! And she had a lil scratch scab on the bottom of her foot and she noticed it the other day. So she's sitting & trying to examine closely the mark. She kept pulling the bottom of her foot up to her face, then losing her balance & rolling over. Then she was trying for the life of her to figure out why she had a mark on one foot, but not on the other. Wish I had this on video (like a million other things).

she speaks a little more now, altho still not with consistancy. She'll say:
"k" (ok)
up (she says up if she's going up or going down)
apple
peaw (pear)
ba (as in, ...nana)
chair
pillow
shoes
cheese
gamma (grandma)
ampa (grandpa)
da (daddy)
ba (mommy -???)
cracker
tow truck
apple juice
cold
raaar (tiger sound)

She also nods yes and closes her eyes tight for no. Which is AWEsome 'cause now I finally have a way to find out what she wants! Altho she still often doesnt tell.

I got her a sticker book for the flight to CA. It's now one of her favorite books. It's got 700 stickers. She likes to put the stickers on her feet. Other than that she mostly keeps them in the book. Of course as I type that, she is putting stickers on my filing cabinet.

I love how she gives you her feet when it's time to put on socks and shoes. She has a thing about her feet. She loves to have her toes counted and to have people smell her feet. (the proper response is either "PEW!" or "MMM! Smells like ROses!" -she thinks either response is very funny)

She likes to play with the magnets on my mom's fridge. (or any fridge really) and this trip she discovered she could take the magnets off the fridge & slide them into this little crack where one of the kitchen cabinets is not quite lined up right. So the whole time she's putting the magnets in there & every time you need to get out a cookie tray you go in the cabinet & all these magnets come pouring out. :)

Peanut started saying "ampa" when my dad was in the hospital. It was the only thing that made my dad shed a tear, when my mom told him. He came home to die and the whole time he was pretty much comatose. I told her he didn't feel good and was sleeping. Gwen would check on him regularly, occasionally pulling the sheet over his hand or closing the door behind herself so he could rest. She would get very agitated when anyone would touch him. Even if I was holding his hand she would whine as if to say, "he doesn't feel good, leave him be."

When he passed, chrono and I were there, my mom, my aunt (his older sister) and uncle and one of my cousins, down from LA. Everyone was upset so I told her, "Grampa is going to live with his mommy, who will take care of him from now on so he doesn't feel bad anymore."

At the service and again at the gravesite during the funeral, she said, "ampa". I tell you, kids are far more perceptive than we give them credit for.

It breaks my heart when I think of all the things I won't be able to share with him as Gwen grows up. However, I'm incredibly grateful for the time we had, and that he got to know Gwen & to know he was leaving a legacy.

You know what kills me? It's very easy to put her to bed, she goes willingly. But sometimes when she's not tired you put her down, say g'night, leave the door open a crack and then sit down when... 10 or 15 minutes later you hear, "PA!" It's easy to tune out crying but when she just calls you as if to say, "MOM! I'm still not tired! I'm wide awake! I think I'll go for a walk!"

She'll call you every 10 minutes or so, sometime for up to an hour. She's all, "Still here. Still awake. Just sayin'" :D

I am a proud mama. My girl pee-ed on the potty for the first time today. YAY! She's 18 months, she's had the potty for a couple months now & altho I haven't been too enthusiastically pursuing it, I've been sitting with her once a day and reading a couple of books at each sitting. I keep telling her when she gets squirmy during changing, that when she uses the potty she won't need to wear diapers anymore.

Anyway, tonight I was reading a bedtime story & she said, "poo" and pointed downward, (she doesn't know the difference b/t "pee" & "poo" yet) and I asked if she wanted to go on the potty & she nodded yes. So I said, ok, hold it till we get to the potty, and I quick got her out of pj's and onto the potty. We read two books & then she said, "Uh Oh", which is her current catch phrase for telling us anything (I spilled something = Uh Oh, the closet door is open & I can see the evil vacuum cleaner = Uh Oh, I took my hair band out = Uh Oh) and it was then that she pee-ed!

I called chrono who came & was also very excited. He told me to have her wash her hands, I was all flummoxed & didn't know if I should do that first, or take her to the bed to wipe & put a diaper on, should I try to wipe her standing up which is more difficult, I was like, eek I don't know what to do! but I just took her to the bed where the changing pad is & cleaned & changed her.

I was so excited I didn't want to put her to bed anymore but it was bedtime & she was tired. Still... my Peanut, she's the BEST! SO SMART!

This weekend, my lil Peanut started saying, "No!" except it comes out, "Ny-oh!" So cute!

"You gonna give mommy a kiss?"
"Ny-oh."

She's hooked on this new kids show, "The Fresh Beat Band". It's all music & dancing. Her favorite song is, "GoGo-A-GoGo". So every day, several times a day, she says, "Go-Go!" 'cause she wants to watch that song. (she now knows we can get it on demand on the computer). If we say, "No Go-Go", she tries again, "Bea-Bea!" which means, 'Fresh Beat'. OMG so cute in her tiny voice! But if it were up to her she'd watch Fresh Beat all day every day.

In other news, we finally broke down & got a microwave. Yes, we've been living without one all these years, eating fresher food & all. So now I can reheat leftovers for lunch.

Also, just today her dad told her it was going to snow and I was like, 'you know she thinks you're God. You say it's going to snow, and it snows.' She doesn't know about weathermen yet.

Funny thing about the evolution of a first time mom.

Every woman who is pregnant is the first woman who's ever been pregnant. Ever. There's something about the experience that is yours and yours alone and combined with the bizarre changes your body is undergoing, the whole experience being totally out of your control and general fear of the unknown... no amount of talking or listening ever quite equates to any relief that you're not alone.

Then, like a year or so later, all of a sudden you're an experienced mom and you find yourself a part of this amazing sisterhood... Like you exchange knowing glances with other moms in the store, you share advice with strangers, ("there's another really good park a town over"), you understand other moms in your family, including your own, on a whole other level.

The transition from being a lone ranger to being part of such an overwhelmingly large club is insideous and strange.

You know something else, this is funny. You guys who've known me so well for so long with appreciate this...

I used to think I was attractive. These days, I look at Gwen and I think, she looks like me, but she's really beautiful. Her eyes are wider & larger and a little bluer than mine, set a little further apart. Her nose is smaller. I look at myself in the mirror now and I think my looks are average. My eyes are a little too small and close together, my nose is too big.

The funny thing about this fact is that I couldn't care less. I seem to have misplaced my vanity somewhere. Not sure, I may have left it at the hospital where she was born. Oh, well, no biggie.

"Do you want a banana?"
"No."
~nf puts banana away~
~Peanut screams!~
"Do you want the banana?"
"No."

I know it sounds funny but we have that conversation a dozen times a day and it makes it impossible to please her or maintain my own sanity. Gah!

She says all sorts of things now. She says, Da-ee for Daddy. She says, "mama! mama! mama mama mama mamamamamama! Hi!" She says, A-pee for airplane, and A-po for Apple and eh-bow for elbow, which all sound almost the same.

She says, PLEEEEASE! complete with tilt of head & fluttering eyelashes or anime grin after a 3 week battle of wills to get her to say it.

All Cereal is "Cheeros" (Cheerios, obviously)

She says, "choo" after she sneezes.

She'll try to imitate lots of things if you prompt her.

She knows about 15 alphabet letters, out of sequence, lets see she knows, W, which is her favorite letter "Double!" she calls it. If I try to get her to say, "Double -U! she just points to herself (U=you)"

She knows:A, B, C, D, E, G, H, M, O, P, Q, R, T, W
and will point them out when she sees them on license plates, signs, in words on products, wherever. She sees letters where there aren't any, like in a wavy line in mosaic tile she sees, "W", and when she sits in the cart at the supermarket, she sees "T" in the part that goes from the handle to the seat.

She knows 1,2,3 too, altho she doesn't enjoy numbers as much as letters.

She is still SUPER into her feet & toes and has now expanded to shoes. At Payless the other day she took off her sandals & was trying to put on all sorts of shoes, she likes to walk around in her daddy's shoes, ("Gwen, where did you get such big feet?" ...Gwen: "SHOES!")

Oh, and Uncle Apoc is "Poc Poc". Just sayin'. ;)

She knows all her capital letters now and some of her lower case ones too. She understands that "M" upside down is "W" but can't understand that "p" upside down is "d" and she calls "b" "p" too.

Just today she finally said, "ABC" when she wanted me to sing the Alphabet song. I've been trying to get her to say ABC forEVER!

She says the funniest things, like, "I poke." She looks at her stuffed monkey and says, "I poke." Then she proceeds to put out her index finger and poke the monkey. Poke. Poke. Poke. too funny!

Also when chrono threatens to eat her brains she said, "No. Mama." and chrono says, "I should eat Mama's brains?" and Peanut says, "Ya!" and if I'm in the next room, she'll come and get me, calling, "MAMA! Brains!" ~rolleyes~

Peanut uses the "a" sound, as in apple, to mean "and". So if you ask what she did today, and today she went to the park, went down the slide, scraped her knee, talked to Nana on the phone, saw a puppy and ate an apple, her response will be,
"Pak, a side, a booboo, a Nana, a puppy, a app-o." and you'll have no idea what she just said. But I will translate. :D

She finally can say, "bana" for banana instead of just "ba".

She says "Ogen" for orange. Pronounced O-(like ostrich)-jen.

She will randomly state, while playing, "I funny." She is.

She has taken to tickling inanimate objects, such as a large rock or her grilled cheese sandwich. (She will also poke these objects if you ask her to. "Poke, poke, poke")

She likes to tell you what to do. So if you sit and she doesn't want you to, she'll say, "NO! Get up!" (obviously we discourage this) She'll also sit and pat the seat next to her and say, "Sit" when she wants you to sit next to her. She may also give you the ball and tell you who to throw it to.

She knows all her letters, capital & lower case (she still gets i & l mixed up but who doesn't?) and is now practicing the alphabet song, when she thinks noone's listening. You'll find her in the book corner singing, "ABCG, ABCQ, OPQR..."

Also is leaning her numbers. She'll repeat after you, 1-5, sometimes even 1-10. and when she thinks you're not listening, "one... two... one!"

She can put on her own shorts. She will also take any type of clothing she sees lying around and try to put it on as though it were shorts. So her shirts, she'll put her feet through the armholes and try to pull them up, then she'll tell you she's stuck when she can't get it.

AND after many months of trying, I finally taught her, when I ask, "Gwen, who's the best?" to reply, "ME!" and point to herself. :nf:

Last night, Gwen got to hold her first lighting bug ever! When it flew away, she told us it was going to eat. Then she added that it was eating fish. I guess she thought since we had salmon for dinner, everyone did.

In other news, she calls "upside down" .. "updown"

She also calls the kitchen, chicken.
Gwen (in singsong): "Momma... where aaare you???"
nf: "I'm in the kitchen."
Gwen: "Momma... in the chicken..."

She also knows now how to remove her diapers. Sometimes I check on her after she's asleep & she's all bare-bottomed. Tonight, she took it off in the reading corner & then went to show Daddy. "Daddy... no diaper!" SOOOO funny!

She always gives credit where it's due. If she & I build a tower of blocks, and then Daddy comes home, he'll say, "Did you build a tower?" and she will respond, "a Momma!" ("a" also doubles as "with").

Night before last, she put on her tutu and Daddy's combat boots and made us clap a rhythm as she did a little song & dance number. Too much!

this morning, Gwen peeked into the shower to see, "Where Daddy?", then watched him get dressed & ready & leave for work, as she does most mornings.

Later in the morning, I was changing her and she said to me, "Peanut." I asked, "What?" She pointed down and said, "Peanut." I couldn't figure out what she was talking about. Again I asked, "What?"

She sighed & replied, "Daddy's Peanut." ~points down~ "Gwen's Peanut." (Penis)

Too funny!

ok later I put her down for a nap. She's all sorts of awake and not wanting to sleep but it's like 2 hours past her naptime so I put her down anyway. I hear her playing with Monkey, Puppy & Faerie. (We're not very original with the stuffed animal names) Then finally, quiet.

20 minutes or so later, I hear her mumbling in there, clearly not yet napping. I peek in to see what she's up to...

Gwendolyn Skye has removed her diaper and reached over between the bars of the crib and taken some items out of the hamper and is trying on clothes. She has already put on a one piece jumper, but it is on backwards and both legs are through one leg hole, and she's attempting to put on a tank top as though it were shorts.

"G-U-I-N-N-E-S-S.... Daddy!"

Last week, 9pm...
Gwen puts on her shoes, grabs her bucket in one hand & her shovel in the other & announces matter of factly: "Beach."
John & I: "you're going to the beach?"
Gwen: "Yeah, okay." ~goes to the door & looks at us expectantly~

The next day, on the way to the park...
Gwen: "Beach."
me: "Not the beach, we're going to the park."
Gwen: "Okay. Park. ... Beach too."
me: "No beach today, we'll try to go to the beach this weekend."
...Gwen, nodding: "Sunday."

so my daughter has reached the age where she's discovering the wonder of possession. All day it's, "It's mine." or, "Is that yours?" Sooo glad this happened right before we add a new baby to the family. {/sarcasm}

She's also taken to this lil conversation:
Gwen: "Daddy?"
chrono: "Yes?"
Gwen: "What?"

and:
Gwen: "I wanna talk to you!"
(She almost never has anything she wants to talk to you ABOUT)

Last night putting her to bed, and she's stalling:
Gwen: "I wanna talk to you!"
nf: "What would you like to talk about?"
Gwen: ~after a moment of thought~ "Peanut butter and crackers."
nf: "You had that with Daddy today, huh?"
Gwen: "Uh huh. Daddy put it away."
nf: "Maybe you'll have more tomorrow."
Gwen: ~points to self~ "In my own plate."

Whenever asked, she calls the new baby "sister". I've asked her, 'what if mommy has a boy baby?' and she said that's ok. It's funny, I think she forgets about it, then like the other day she pointed to the sonogram pic on the fridge & said, "Sister. " The only thing is I told her she's going to get a new bed she was happy about this until... I told her the new baby would sleep in the crib. Then she's all frowny face & "My crib". ~sigh~

so the other day she's drawing on her chalkboard and Daddy asks her what she's drawing. She answers promptly, "Two kangaroos, and some clouds, and a flower."

The other day, I'm explaining to her that Halloween is coming up & how the whole trick or treating thing works.
Mama: "...and we say, "Trick or Treat" and people give us candy!"
Gwen: "and cake?" (Gwen doesn't know much about candy, but she knows all about cake!)

We're on the drive to the communal meeting spot for trick or treating. Gwen is dressed as a witch. Daddy, who is driving, asks her, "What is your costume? Are you a witch?"
Gwen: "No."
Daddy: "Are you a Princess Witch?"
Gwen: "No."
Daddy:"What are you?"
Gwen: "I'm in the back, with Mama."

Gwen's pretty good with the "Please" and "Thank you", now we're working on "May I, please?" Today, at one house while trick or treating, she received some candy, and then asked, "May I have more please?"

Did I mention Peanut is taking dance classes? Intro to ballet & tap. So this morning over oatmeal:
me: You're going to dance class this morning.
Gwen: Yeah! And my toes!
me: and your toes.
Gwen ~throws arms wide~: I dance AAALL around!

<edit> Gwen is the kid in school who enjoys being there but doesn't necessarily want to do what the class is doing while they're doing it. Most of the other kids at least try to follow steps, Gwen mostly dances to her own beat around them all. Kind of like Snoopy. ~sigh~

Then today when she woke from her nap:
Gwen: Faerie's in trouble.
me: Why is Faerie in trouble?
Gwen ~thinks~: Blanket broken.
me: Blanket's not broken, blanket's fine.
Gwen ~ponders~
me: Gwen, did you have a dream that blanket was broken?

Gwen: Yeah.

Gwen: One, Two, Three, Four.... TWO!

Gwen says so many incredible things lately I just want to follow her around with a dictafone, lol.

The other day she takes my hand and sings, "...and when I touch you I feel HAPPY insiiiide... sing, it, mama"
I about melted on the spot.

Some other Gwen-isms:

"of course" - she says this a lot & it cracks people up.
me: Gwen, will you put the blocks back if you're done with them?" Gwen: "of course".

"What's your plan?" - apparently I say this a lot & she's picked it up. She asks me 12 times a day what the plan is.

"First..." - this is accompanied by 'the finger' - the index finger held up as if to illustrate a point.
the other day we were getting ready to leave a friends house at the end of a party.
Gwen: What's the plan, mama?
me: We're going to get our things together & go home.
Gwen ~thinks, then puts up the finger~ : FIRST, we need the diaper bag. Then, we get dressed. Then, we need some food. Then, we eat. Then, we play. (apparently these are the steps necessary to lead us up to eventually going home. Anything to buy some time. )

"I wanna ask you a question" - she never knows what she wants to ask us, though.

She's also taken to asking for "Jingle Bells" as a lullaby when we put her down to sleep. I've no idea where she heard this recently but she asks for it almost every night & she knows almost all the words. I sing it once through and as I'm walking out the door saying, "sweet dreams" she's still singing, "Dashing through the snow..." ~happy sigh~

Gwen laid out her "Ba" (her security blanket) on the floor in the livingroom tonight & invited Daddy & me to a picnic. We had make believe burgers & apples & juice boxes. When Daddy & I had to get up to take care of other things, she continued the picnic with her trucks & trains, all lined up, and Gwen on her belly with her feet up in the air, showing them all how to sip imaginary alphabet soup. I have no idea why this brings me such joy but I can hardly contain myself with the wonderousness of it all.

I'm so very grateful to have had this time, these past years, with her as an only child. I am very happy and excited to present her with her new brother and am looking forward to watching their relationship develop, and the new adventures to be had as a family. Still, closing the book on the time we've had to focus solely on my little Peanut makes me both immensely grateful and a little wistful. I have no doubt I'll love the new little one just as much but right now it's hard to imagine being as enchanted by anything as much as I am with my daughter.

11 Step Program for those thinking of having kids

Lesson 1

1. Go to the grocery store.

2. Arrange to have your salary paid directly to their head office.

3. Go home.

4. Pick up the paper.

5. Read it for the last time.

Lesson 2

Before you finally go ahead and have children, find a couple who already are parents and berate them about their...

1. Methods of discipline.

2. Lack of patience.

3. Appallingly low tolerance levels.

4. Allowing their children to run wild.

5. Suggest ways in which they might improve their child's breastfeeding, sleep habits, toilet training, table manners, and overall behavior.

Enjoy it because it will be the last time in your life you will have all the answers.

Lesson 3

A really good way to discover how the nights might feel...

1. Get home from work and immediately begin walking around the living room from 5PM to 10PM carrying a wet bag weighing approximately 8-12 pounds, with a radio turned to static (or some other obnoxious sound) playing loudly. (Eat cold food with one hand for dinner)

2. At 10PM, put the bag gently down, set the alarm for midnight, and go to sleep.

3. Get up at 12 and walk around the living room again, with the bag, until 1AM.

4. Set the alarm for 3AM.

5. As you can't get back to sleep, get up at 2AM and make a drink and watch an infomercial.

6. Go to bed at 2:45AM.

7. Get up at 3AM when the alarm goes off.

8. Sing songs quietly in the dark until 4AM.

9. Get up. Make breakfast. Get ready for work and go to work (work hard and be productive)

Repeat steps 1-9 each night. Keep this up for 3-5 years. Look cheerful and together.

Lesson 4

Can you stand the mess children make? T o find out...

1. Smear peanut butter onto the sofa and jam onto the curtains.

2. Hide a piece of raw chicken behind the stereo and leave it there all summer.

3. Stick your fingers in the flower bed.

4. Then rub them on the clean walls.

5. Take your favorite book, photo album, etc. Wreck it.

6. Spill milk on your new pillows. Cover the stains with crayons. How does that look?

Lesson 5

Dressing small children is not as easy as it seems.

1. Buy an octopus and a small bag made out of loose mesh.

2. Attempt to put the octopus into the bag so that none of the arms hang out.

Time allowed for this - all morning.

Lesson 6

Forget the BMW and buy a mini-van. And don't think that you can leave it out in the driveway spotless and shining. Family cars don't look like that.

1. Buy a chocolate ice cream cone and put it in the glove compartment.

Leave it there.

2. Get a dime. Stick it in the CD player.

3. Take a family size package of chocolate cookies. Mash them into the back seat. Sprinkle cheerios all over the floor, then smash them with your foot.

4. Run a garden rake along both sides of the car.

Lesson 7

Go to the local grocery store. Take with you the closest thing you can find to a pre-school child. (A full-grown goat is an excellent choice). If you intend to have more than one child, then definitely take more than one goat. Buy your week's groceries without letting the goats out of your sight. Pay for everything the goat eats or destroys. Until you can easily accomplish this, do not even contemplate having children.

Lesson 8

1. Hollow out a melon.

2. Make a small hole in the side.

3. Suspend it from the ceiling and swing it from side to side.

4. Now get a bowl of soggy Cheerios and attempt to spoon them into the swaying melon by pretending to be an airplane.

5. Continue until half the Cheerios are gone.

6. Tip half into your lap. The other half, just throw up in the air.

You are now ready to feed a nine- month-old baby.

Lesson 9

Learn the names of every character from Sesame Street , Barney, Disney, the Teletubbies, and Pokemon. Watch nothing else on TV but PBS, the Disney channel or Noggin for at least five years. (I know, you're thinking What's 'Noggin'?) Exactly the point.

Lesson 10

Make a recording of Fran Drescher saying 'mommy' repeatedly. (Important: no more than a four second delay between each 'mommy'; occasional crescendo to the level of a supersonic jet is required). Play this tape in your car everywhere you go for the next four years. You are now ready to take a long trip with a toddler.

Lesson 11

Start talking to an adult of your choice. Have someone else continually tug on your skirt hem, shirt- sleeve, or elbow while playing the 'mommy' tape made from Lesson 10 above. You are now ready to have a conversation with an adult while there is a child in the room.

The boy. The boy at four months is incredibly adept at balancing his binkie on my shoulder. One minute he's Maggie Simpson, the next minute there's a binkie on my shoulder. I don't know how he does it without it falling off.

He also delight in faucets. If he's in my arm and I turn on the sink faucet, he kicks his legs and leans forward and smiles.

When feeding The Boy, (as we affectionately refer to him), I need 3 hands. One to old the bowl, one two hold the spoon, and one to fight off his hand, which he feels must also be in his mouth with each mouthful.

The Boy believes the sun rises and sets with his sister. She is The Goddess as far as he is concerned. If he can sit and watch her, in awe, he's content most of the time. There are many occasions when she is the only one who can elicit a smile from him. We imagine, he looks at her and thinks, "THE GIRL!" (think Toy Story, "THE CLAW!") If he can get close enough, he reaches out to touch her, her hair, her arm, anything.

The Girl has learned that when she's in trouble, and noone else is happy with her, The Boy will still smile in delight when she comes near. She recognizes the value in this, and likes him all the more for it.

Gwen: This (stuffed animal) is my pet chameleon. He sits on my shoulder & changes color. Would you like to pet him?
me: I'd love to. What's his name?
Gwen: Lizard.

So John & I are discussing/contemplating the audio connection between the Hebrew song, Hava Nagila and the Empirial March from Star Wars (there is a connection, think about it). John is humming one, then the other...
Gwen: Daddy, you're singing the wrong song.
Daddy: no this is the right one.
Gwen: No, it goes, "The wheels on the bus go 'round and 'round..."

October 29th: Yikes! The Boy just tried to bite The Girl.

my hubby, to Gwen: Which do you like better, Autobots or Decepticons?
Gwen: Well, I like Ghostbusters.
hubby: No, I'm asking if you like Autobots or Decepticons. Just pick one.
Gwen: Ummmmm..... I like Ghostbusters.

put the kids to bed, they were both still awake. When I threw my hands up & left the room, The Boy was fussing & The Girl had gotten out of her bed, walked around his bed & took his stuffed lamb & was using it to try to entertain him. Somehow, a time later, they were both asleep. HOW DO THEY PUT THEMSELVES TO SLEEP??? I'm dying to be a fly on the wall!

running back & forth bringing groceries in from the car; I walk in the door to The Boy yelling emphatically and The Girl waving her arms up & down saying, "I've got him yelling and you're gone and I don't know what to do with him!"

Someone has let my son into the mushrooms. He is tripping his face off, hardcore, screeching & squealing at nothing, waving his arms in the air, generally being insane. I fully expect at some point to have to talk him off the roof, or convince him he's not really an orange. The Girl is merely encouraging his behavior.

The Boy is tired & wants to nurse. I'm trying to change him & he's squirming & squalling unappreciatively. The Girl comes over, puts her hand on his stomach & starts to rub circles on his belly comfortingly, saying, "shhhh... shhhh...". This stuff KILLS me!

ok The Boy stood unassisted for like an entire minute last week. Again, he's eight months old. I predict he'll be walking at 9 months. A couple of times now he's been standing, taken his hand off the couch, and moved as if to walk across the floor, only to realize as the floor was meeting his nose, that he cannot yet walk. Very funny.

He also now waves his hand and says, "Haaa..." (ie, "hi"). He only does this when he feels like it, tho, and most often to his own reflection in the mirror.

oh yes, and he's a biter. He bites you when he's angry and he bites you when he's showing how much he loves you. Gwen loves to tell people about this.

and This is for all of you who think my girl is "so cute"...
Gwen (talking to mama): What the f*cking h*ll are you doing?
ayeah. I couldn't believe it, I made her say it twice, lol.

Gwen grabs The Boy around his waist & lays back so he's falling on top of her.
me: Gwen! What are you doing?
Gwen: I'm trying to make him fall asleep.
me: Why?
Gwen: Because I like him asleep.

Gwen: mama, Do you know where Ba (favorite blanket) is?
me: no.
Gwen: I think Ba is playing hide and seek with me.
later, after we found that mama was sitting on Ba:
Gwen: Mama, I really do love you, but the fact is, people don't sit on Ba's.
LMFAO!

Gwen: What time is it?
me: 10 to six.
Gwen: 10 to six? That's horrible!
me: Why?
Gwen: at six, we dance.
me: and now?
Gwen, pointing to clock: At this time, there's no dancing.

This KILLed me the other night. They're on our bed, Gwen's jumping & The Boy is jumping too (I'm holding him & lifting him up & down, he's bending his knees & giggling like mad). Gwen falls to the bed, the boy "falls" down after her, then reaches out to crawl over her.
me: Aw, he wants to hug you.
Gwen(putting an arm around The Boy): Aww, I love you too, Little Man. I love you too.

Gwen: STOP! You cannot go into this room until you give me some money!
me: Gwen, in this world, you have to earn money. What are you going to do for me if I give you some money?
Gwen: (with index finger to chin) Hmmmm.... I will buy you a castle!
Daddy: Professional shopper, it is!

me: Gwen, just so you know, I'm putting all the Christmas books over here.
Gwen: ok. May I see? Oh, that is wonderful and good. That is a perfect place. Thank you, mama.

Stolen from my friend Kathryn, talking to her 11 year old son:
Me: Kids, please write your Christmas lists so you don't end up getting coal.
Isaac: Actually, Mom, if I had some coal I could make my own steam-powered contraption.

Been saying this "prayer" with Gwen before bed. She seems to enjoy it.
"May the sun bring you new energy by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night,
May the rain wash away your worries,
May the breeze blow new strength into your being.
May you walk through the world and know its beauty all the days of your life."

-- Apache Blessing (she makes me say the "Apache Blessing" part as part of the prayer. :)

Gwen's currently calling The Boy, "Oatmeal". His previous monikers include, "Sneezy" (does he sneeze a lot? no.) and "Pants".

I keep meaning to add this & have been forgetting for ages. Since she was around 2 1/2 she's been using the same 'magic words'...

Misery Moo, Misery Ahh!

as in, "Misery Moo, Misery Ahh, turn mama into a frog!" or "Misery Moo, Misery Ahh, turn mama back to mama!"

me: Gwen, why aren't you eating your pasta?
Gwen: Because I'm sooooo hungry. ~pause~ I need graham crackers.

Gwen: Mama, where am I? (She's in the laundry basket while I am putting away laundry)
me: I don't know, where are you?
Gwen: I'm in the forest where I can't find myself.
(2 min later, after Gwen was finally found)
Gwen: oh no, I'm being pulled back into the forest.
Daddy: What's pulling you?
Gwen: A big, giant shark!
Daddy: Oh, no, she's being attacked by a landshark!

In other news... my boy has discovered that wiping his runny nose on my couch makes him feel better. I'm so proud. :dozey:

so. yeah... The Boy took his first steps about 10 days ago. On day 8, he climbs stairs. Not stair, stairs. In the hall of my apt, I put him down so I could lock the door. I have never done this before. He turned & climbed 5 stairs going up before I took him down.

The only reason I let him even get 5 steps was 'cause I had my camera on my wrist & I was taking pics. One hand outstretched in case he fell, one hand with camera. I am proud. Proud, amused, trepidatious. Who knew those three emotions would come so readily simultaneously, lol.

Gwen: Daddy, your sunglasses are chipped.
Daddy: It's just a little chip. I'll get a new pair next time I go into the city.
Gwen: Mama! Did you know there's a city in New York???!!

The girl is building with blocks. The boy sits next to her, with the clear plastic bag the blocks go in flattened out in front of him. He carefully gathers blocks, one by one, and places them "in" (really ON) the plastic bag. When satisfied his bag is sufficiently full, he lifts the bag, and all the blocks fall off. He looks confused, then sits & starts again...

Gwen takes her (stuffed) lizard and puts him under her pillow. She then leaves the room, counts to 10, and reenters, calling, "Lizard! Where AAARE you??? Are you in the closet?... No.... Are you under the bed? ... No..."

In the event that The Boy evades capture and manages to bypass security measures to make his way into the bathroom, he always takes a moment to pause and consider his options: The tantalizing toilet paper roll? The toilet itself, full of water to splash in? The Girl's stepstool? Or just dive headfirst into the bathtub? He is always emphatically dismayed when his moment of consideration is interrupted and the entire mission is thwarted.

Gotta love the nose picking. Gwen comes to me with one on each thumb... "Mama, I don't wanna deal with these snots!" That's her way of asking for a tissue. ~rolleyes~

This one from Daddy:
The Boy is falling asleep in my arms, reaches out with his tiny little finger and shoves it up my nose.... he giggles and then fall back into half sleep only to reach out again and pokes me in the eye....and so forth poke... giggle...zzzzz poke.. giggle ...zzzzz too funny

Freddie Mercury: ... another one bites the dust... oh! another one bites the dust... oh!...
Gwen: The Queen is saying, Oh! because it's so dusty.

Gwen was describing to me the video (which I played for her a week ago, her dance class is using the song for their recital) for Justin Bieber's "Baby" (she doesn't know who Bieber is)... she first tells me it's a girl singing.... I think, ok, I can see that... then she goes on to tell me the girl's Daddy sings...

I love that she thinks Ludachris is Justin Bieber's Daddy. Brilliant!

The Boy:

His first finger foods were Cheerios and Cheese. Now everything he likes is, "Chee!"

Whenever you get him naked, he grins and pats his chest with his hands, all puffed up & proud.

Sometimes he brings his stuffed Llama or Hippo to everyone in turn, so you can hug him, then you give it back to him & he hugs it, then brings it to the next person.

The other day The Girl got in trouble & was crying & sniffling. The Boy brought her his Llama to make her feel better. So compassionate!

The Girl:

Everything she likes is her favorite. Her favorite colors? Purple and pink. And Orange. And brown. And white. If she doesn't like it, it's never, 'I don't like this', it's, "It's not my favorite."

The other day The Boy was down for a nap and she decided she had to put is Llama in his bed so if he woke up he wouldn't be alone. Altho she tortures him and is jealous of him, she loves him an awful lot.

He also randomly sings the EIEIO part of Old McDonald. SOOO funny!

My son hums to himself. Soooo cute!

Yesterday I napped while The Boy napped. When he woke, after several attempts at quietly mewling, "mama...", The Boy took his binkie and threw it out of the crib, and said, "CHA!" which is how he says, "CATCH!"

Today The Girl was holding onto The Boy. They were both on the floor and he was playing with something and she had him over her belly and wasn't letting go. He finally bit her on the nose. I had to chastise both of them.

OMG I got SOOO mad at her the other day I could've KILLED her! I left the room for a MOMENT to put something in the laundry like one room away and when I came back she had him on the floor, belly to belly and was PUNCHING him in the kidneys! Now, she can't give a really hard punch but WTF??? She almost didn't live out that day.

ok THAT said, I do have a couple of cute things I've been meaning to get down:

The Girl calls all news shows on TV, "Weather". So if I put on the news for a minute, she says, "Mama, I don't want to watch the weather." I love this!

She calls Aunt Jessica, "Aunt Jekissa". Which I LOVE!

You can't put too much food on The Boy's plate all at once. The more food on there, the more he tries to stuff into his mouth all at once. But once he's eating, you'd better keep food on his plate because as soon as it's empty, he picks it up & starts waving it around, like, "Hello? Empty plate here!" OR he just drops it on the floor in protest.

EVERYTHING is "NA!" which means "No!" So...
"Hey, Sebastian! Is that spaghetti good?"...
"Na!" ~shakes head 'no', grins, takes another bite~...
"Would you like some more?"... "Na!" ~shakes head, grinning, continues eating voraciously~....
"Do you love mama?".... "Na!" ~shakes head~...
It goes on and on.

and ok this is hysterical! Gwen said, "Da-ee" for Daddy like eight months or so before she said, "mama". For that eight months or so I was, "Ba". I shared my name, "Ba," with 'banana', 'blanket', and 'kitchen'. If I was standing in the kitchen with bananas, I had no idea what she wanted.

Sebastian, on the other hand, says, "Mama" and "Da-ee" with ease. He knows full well who is who. When he first wakes up and Daddy gets him out of the crib, it's a gleeful, "DA-ee!" When he comes home from work, it's an excited, "Da-ee!" you get the picture. BUT about a million times a day for no reason at all, he goes to Daddy and lifts his little arms to be picked up and says, "Mama!" and Daddy says, "I'm not mama." and he says happily, "Mama!" and Daddy says, "I'm not mama.

This goes on and on and it CRACKS me up EVERY time! :p

oh, and she has a little trouble with certain words. Like today she tried to tell me about a dog on a TV show who wasn't named in the show, and how he should have a name, like, "Spot". But she couldn't pronounce, "Spot". She kept saying, "Fot". And I'm like, "Fot?" and she's like, "No, Fot." and I'm like, "Fot?" and she's like, mama, you keep saying, that, it's "Fot." We finally got it and she tried to say it slower and she'll get it eventually.

She calls "Spoon... Foon", too. She can say her SSS's and her PPP's fine, just not together. ~shurgs~

So The Boy gives kisses on request now. :) At least, only to us but still, it's adorable. And they're those open-mouthed kisses babies give cause they can't figure out how to purse their lips yet. And since he goes to bed before everyone else, it's, "Ok, go give Daddy a goodnight kiss." and he toddles over to Daddy, leans in & touches. Then it's, "Ok, go give a goodnight kiss to Gwendolyn." and he toddles over and Gwen's all ok I'll kiss him, until he leans in, then she's like, "No! He's slimy!" and she takes a step back. He then steps towards her and leans in again, mouth open. She steps back and he steps forward.... etc. So funnY!

So... the other morning my son took his diaper off all by himself. (!) I went to get the changing stuff, cause he was poking at the poo (!!) and in the time it took me to take out the diaper he had taken a bite. (!!!) At least it had vegetables in it. (?)
