As the only scot on this forum, I claim it as my land hahahahaha :D
Most of you only seem to know about my land from one movie, Braveheart. There are others but still everytime I speak of my land the conversation always turns tooo kilts and haggis and silly things like that.
I will try to answer any questions, but I will also try to tell you lot how my country sees the rest of the world and daily news whether funny or interesting.
We have many great things- the greatest party in the world is held in my city at new year, the mtv european music awards were held here also this year, the Edinburgh Fringe festival is also huge. We have a great history, bloody and violent, but brilliant. One of the worlds greatest ever poets was scottish-Robert Burns. We have a monster in a loch in Inverness. So many cool things about my country, oh yeah our football(soccer) teams suck though, rugby we're ok at.
Anyway I hope I'm not the only one who posts in this thread so come along, you may learn something or just :umm: whatever.

Every girl can be a lass and every guy a lad!
Yes Scottish weather is crap but I like it, usually its vey wet and grey with a very chilly wind but if you wrap up warm enough its good.
Yes alot of Braveheart was filmed in Ireland.
Amaia, I grant you the Shetland Islands, there you may ride small ponies till your hearts content.
Scottish News- Ummm Celtic and Rangers are rubbish in Europe but not at home. Ummm New Years party sold out again, fears of terrorist attack. Thats about it for scotland all the other stuff is Saddam getting caught and the Huntley case (Sarah and Jessica case) in england.

um.... please educate the ignorant american. Wha's a ned? and wha's a chippy?
Apoc
December 16th, 2003, 20:59
A ned is going to be quite hard too explain but first off a chippy is a chip shop. Fish and Chip shop.
There are many names for a ned here are a few that come too mind-nid, schemie, chavvy.
They average in age between 6-25. They speak really bad, they're rude and are incredibly undereducated. They usually travel in little gangs looking for a fight, they steal and are just generally little fckers.
They usually live in council tenement blocks (nasty looking buildings).
You can spot a ned a mile away usually a white cap or skinhead or a really daft haircut, earring, tracksuit of some sportbrand white socks over the bottom of the trousers and white trainers.
Nearly all the fights I've been in out of boxing have been with neds looking for a fight. Female neds are just basically trashy underage hookers.
They are really nasty bits of work.

Celtic lost too Hibs
out of the cup... oh wait a sec no one here will understand or care what that means.
Basic david vs goliath thing ya know.
I can't believe americans view on football, its soccer too them but wtf why is their football called football when they rarely kick the ball it should be called throwball surely?
Anyway Celtic out of the cup means Rangers (boo) will surely win it which is poke'erce!

The Swede's six favorite scottish themes:
1, 2, 3, and 4: Single Malt Whisky
5: Golf
6: the Puffin!
My old english teacher once went off to see the outer Hebrides, probably 30 years ago. One day, he was driving a rental car, and ran out of petrol far from any station. He started to walk. There was a house a mile away or so. By the time he reached the house, my old teacher was wet, cold and desperate. The residents of the house let him in.
You can imagine how grateful he is.
He starts to tell them what happened in his best English. He's from Sweden. He's visiting the Hebrides because he always wanted to see them. He's driving by himself. He's run out of gas. This is embarrassing of course. Could he possibly buy some gas from the house?
Silence. There are six people in the room. Three of them are grown men. Now my old teacher starts to worry a little. He is receiving the very definition of a multiple blank stare. He is alone. There is literally nothing but rock and salt for miles in any direction. He is totally defenceless.
The oldest man finally moves.
"Sweden?" he says. "Ah."
He makes a short pause and then slowly says:
"The Vikings wair heer a few yairs ago..."
...
My old teacher told me that he was never quite sure if the old man was joking. They gave him food to eat and helped him to dry his clothes, but he was so nervous they felt he was the next thing to a Viking pirate, that it took a long while before he realised they didn't really speak english, only gaelic.
He eventually got the petrol and could continue his journey.

yeah. Highlander and Braveheart. I hate to say it, but the best character in Braveheart was Irish. Seriously though, why don't you grow your hair out and wear kilts? That'd be so awesome. And to top it off, wear your claymore everywhere.

omg- - Murder!!!!!!!
A body was found cut to pieces on MY street, they still can't find the legs!
And before you ask, no it wasn't me  :halo:
It was on the news and everything, I had to take a detour to get down town today because of it. This sort of thing is really rare in scotland, so its freaky that it happened on my street.

Murder update-the victim was a paedophile aparrently, so in my opinion he got his just desserts. Well castration would have been enough, yet I feel no sadness for a paedophile, maybe a father of a little girl that the guy did something too got his hands on him or something, meh-I don't care anymore.
