Well I finally finished the first book, couldn't stop reading for the past two hours, what with the few remaining chapters to go. So it's almost 2:30am now with an exam to do later this day but I just couldn't stop. A few interesting points and questions to be posted after my exam but for now, sleep.

    Good stuff

Yeah I have already ordered the next few books online cause they're not in any of my local bookstores and I must read them....soooon As for those few questions, points...

*Is Erikson playing with the reader at the end with Crokus throwing a fake coin, or the real coin in the water. If not, he's no longer the coin bearer yes? And will that affect his importance with regards to the storyline...I was just starting to really like him.

*Rallick and Vorcan entered the Azath house, which is similar to the deadhouse in that it only permits certain people to enter. I wonder if Vorcan counts in that she was unconcious and carried in... If so will this elevate their importance in the story seeing as how the other Azath chosen became the Emperor and Councilor...

*Kruppe is in fact the man

*Will we see more of Circle Breaker? Cause I sorta do want him to have a happily ever after ending with the dreary life he's led.

I still can't read this thread to see if any of these musings have already been answered cause even on the first page I got to epiph's first post and found out about a death to someone pretty important at the end of Memories of Ice, which is not a spoiler cause a lot of people die and such but now I'm going to be waiting for it to happen rather than it be a total surprise. I fear real spoilers lurking beyond that...

The thing about these books is that they're not told in the typical fantasy manner. This story is epic in a way that is beyond Robert Jordan's dreams, because it is not about one person, it is the story of an Empire.

The books sort of alternate with action happening on two continents, and a HUGE cast of characters (but not, thankfully, an enormous amount of perspectives). The Deadhouse Gates and Memories of Ice, for instance, are actually taking place simultaneously, while I'm not really sure where Midnight Tides stands with regards to the timeline except that it happens before House of Chains (which I personally thought had absolutely no good reason...he could just as easily have made Midnight Tides fourth and House of Chains fifth, and I think that would have made more sense, especially regarding whats-his-face...the shorn Tiste Edur, Coin Face's bro)

So, most of your questions do not have immediate answers, and some have yet to be answered. I would really like to know what the hell is going on with Rallick and Vorcan myself, because I too suspect is it important, what with Kellanved and Dancer or should I say Shadowthrone and Cotillion?. GAHASDF, stupid Azath! And what does it mean, cosmically, that the Azath in Midnight Tides died?!

I'm rather excited to see how Kalam and Quick Ben work together now that Kalam is pretty much allied with Cotillion and Quick is a High Mage...I think I read somewhere that Kalam and Cotillion are now SHARING the position as the Rope of High House Shadow? Is that right?

I’ve just started on Deadhouse gates and am already on chapter three. So far so good, the start is definitely not as bad as Gardens of the Moon but still a little disorientating after so long. Pity how for my favorite characters from book one will have to apparently wait until book three to read about. Though I still enjoy Crokus and Kalam.

I'm disappointed in that I can't order house of chains or anything after it directly from amazon yet. So I'm going to be stuck on Memories of Ice for a while.

Anyone finished Bonehunters yet? *giggles* I have!
And its great (did you expect anything else)...

What I would like to say, and I've been meaning to say it for quite some time only nobody's been there to listen:

Imagine this gathering of people: Kruppe (love you fatty), Tehol and Bugg (Bugg; can you believe this guy) and Iskaral Pust(!).... Now that's a good croud if you ask me....

Everytime I try to (try!) imagine the dialogues, I can't make up my mind about Quick Ben joining in.... Is he up for it?

    Ahh, that feels better...

Is it two books about the necromancers now? are they in store? anyone?

Ahh, must get it.... Damn you, amazon, it can't possibly take you five weeks to send a book!

Karsa's companion? Well, to not spoil anything for ya, why don't ask: does Karsa need a badder companion? I mean he is soooo BaD *thinks back at book and gets all goosebumpy*

Anyway, he does have a companion... Other than Karsa, most time are spent with the malazan army, Apsalar and Captain-er, hmm... how far have everyone read?- okay Captain Paran(you'll know what I mean, otherwise Read!) and Mappo\Icarium...

I'm wondering about a reread, haven't really done it 'cept for reading GotM two times in a row....

    Anyway...Njeh

    Cool bud,

Myself and epiph I think are the only ones to have read up to Midnight Tides...waiting for Bonehunters to arrive from home at the mo...everyone else I don't think has been able (due to america being slow in releasing the books), to get further than Memories of Ice at most, which sucks.

But yeah...of all the books that remain, i'm most looking forward to learning more about thew Crimson Guard and the Prince K'azz D'Avore...and the Seguleh :broken:

Crimson Guard vs the Seguleh would be fckn awesome man

Favourite char is most definately Coltaine.
Favourite books Deadhouse Gates (but mostly just cause of the Chain of Dogs) and Midnight Tides
