I thought we could do with a poll on when we want the war to start in terms of timeline.
a shortish period after the last war (5-10 years)
a longish period after the last war (100 - 1000 years)
at the same time the last war started
other (please post your suggestion)

snap, i voted before i thought about it. take one off 5-10 and put it on long period. 5-10 years isn't enough time for other characters, or their events, to vanish from relevence.

How relevant are the events from the first war? 100+ years could make the events the stuff of legends and 5-10 years would still be considered current events.

My vote goes to other...for i believe simply that the old wars discarded...we should do a Hedge Knight and place it not in the future...but in the past....you turned a dalorian into a timemachine...yeah...into the past...where it truly will be all new...even though its old...ummm...no mention of gods rising yada yada yawn...so yeah...i'd say in the past rather than the future...though i don't know why i'm even placing an opinion on the subject...seeing as i'm away all july...~wonders off to pick daises and cut peoples heads off~

i really like the idea of setting it way later, so that the last war can be a convoluted legend, and if necessary, twisted and mangled versions of events can be brought up as bits of trivial history. you know, stories about the Great Queen Yuvna who saved the world from the tyrannies of the Dread Usurper Selena (you see how these things get twisted by years of intervening historians?!) tossed in here and there like a dash of salt on a good cut of meat - not there to overpower it, just there to enhance it.![]()
Your sense of self is defined by what you think other people think of you.
I'm a militant Agnostic: I don't know and neither do you!
I'm speaking as a newcomer here but I think the events of the past war should be legends and stories. It will enhance the world quite a bit giving it a very rich history. It will also be better for myself to write my character, I could take a more reactive approach to what I write.

Everybody out of the pool! It's been open for a while, those who have wanted to vote have and the rest...can sod offSo I'm closing it so we can get this show on the road...
So for clarities sake, the events of the last war did in fact occur, only in relation to present time they are 100-1000 years in the past, thus the stuff of legends, myths, and fables...
This day, this time, what is in a word, know not I.
uh, i'm pretty sure we need a date more specific than 100-1000 years? maybe?
and i would say the high end of the range is better. ie, 1000 years. mostly because then things may be as vague as possible. therefore, easier to fudge, and people who wanted it to be as if they never happened win a little bit too.
I have given pleasure to the world because I have such a beautiful ass!

Heh I didn't mean to stop discussion on the time spectrum, only that we had the range that we wanted. I for one am in agreement in that the older the better...thus as arch said giving more freedom to tweak the stories as they have aged so.
