    Default story comp (non-quill)

What appeals to me the most about this anthology is that Ryan North is involved. Here is my chance to repay him for the many minutes of entertainment he has given me (if you're not already loving Dinosaur Comics on a regular basis I declare you sub-awesome).

    *Is declared sub-awesome*

Real cool stuff. Tip o' the hat to you Mr Amos! It might be fun to try and write something, but in case that doesn't happen, I'll have the dinosaurs still! I win

Had a quickie go...not going to enter it...but ~shrugs~ i wrote it, might aswell post it...

    Machine of Death : Poodle.

A fear took a hold of her as she caught sight of what she knew would be the death of her. Her world shook in anticipation of her end, her breathing grew erratic, her eyes searched desperately for a safe avenue of flight, for she knew the likelihood of the poodle being her actual killer was unlikely but rather her escape from it. That damn machine, she cursed it in her panicking mind.
Taking a deep breath she tried to calm herself, she held it, and watched wide eyed as the creature of her many nightmares since the test, drew closer. “Stay away...stay away...” she repeatedly whispered to herself in a whimper.
    ~
“No, no darling, i’ll be home in a moment...i’m just coming up now.” nattered the posh lady on her mobile as she walked her little Tinkerbell. The tiny poodle scampered upon the leash at her side, yapping incessantly at passers-by as the lady hung up her phone and drew to a halt, a yelp escaped the poodle as the sudden stop choked it mid jump. The lady clawed through her handbag and dug out her keys, “Yes Tinks, we’re home...sit.” The little ball of white fluff obeyed instantly, “who’s a good girl? Who’s a good girl? Just wait while mommy opens the door.”
    ~
The girl visibly shook now, she wanted to run but couldn’t, she dared not move. The poodle sat not five paces away, all her attention was locked on it...and then, as if in slow motion, it turned its white fluffy little head and locked its depth less black eyes on her. The girl let out a strangled cry, “No.”
    ~
The Lady jumped with fright and spun around to face the girl...and Tinkerbells leash fell from her hand.
A great stillness lingered as the Lady and her poodle looked upon the terrified girl. An awful fear grew within the woman for she knew her fate was at the hands of a madman, “beaten to death.” read the note in her minds eye, remembering.
The stillness was broken as Tinkerbell cocked its head to regard the girl. Raising her hands defensively before her, the girl pleaded for it to stay. The Lady, not taking her eyes off the girl crouched slowly down and gathered her Tinkers leash, “its ok, we’re going now. “She stood back up and slowly opened the door behind her.
    ~
The girl watched wide eyed as the Lady retreated within the apartment block, the poodle in tow. As the door came to a close, the girl released a long held breath and began to try and steady herself, “dammit, bloody hell.” she cursed to herself, she hated her fear for it, swore she’d not freak out at every poodle that crossed her path, this was the fifth time one that had done so. Her breathing steadied, she had survived again. Leaning against the apartment block wall, she fished into her pocket and phoned her best friend.
    ~
The Lady gathered Tinkerbell in her arms as she rode the lift to the forty second floor. “Yes Tinker, that girl did give mommy a fright.” The lift came to a halt six short of the Lady’s floor and a small business man got on.
“Ugly dog.” growled the man in a less than pleasant manner.
The Lady turned and regarded the little man, “excuse me? What did you just say?”
“What? Your dog is ugly, Lady. Almost as ugly as you.”
“Oh my!” her hand lashed out of its own volition, striking the little man across the cheek...she instantly regretted it.
    ~
“Yeah, it was a tiny little ball of fluff hehe...and i totally freaked out again, oh i wish you had been here.”
    ~
Forty two floors above, blood-soaked hands baring little Tinkerbell stretched out an open window...and released.
And the poodle plummeted, not a sound escaping it.
And the girl? Well she never saw it coming.
