Default e-Reading for the casual reader

I guess this section is as good as any place to mention a little gem of a find. First off here is the link directly to the site. In a nut shell, it is a website that emails you a small chunk of one of the open domain books in its library. You can set it up to email a 5 minute's worth of reading on a daily basis, as an example. And if you want a quicker fix you can access/order the next piece of the book directly through the email to get delivered right when you want it.

This site is completely legit, and if you have a handheld with email, this is even better. I love it. I've been casually reading Bram Stoker's Dracula whenever I have time, but b/c of my oddball schedule lately, and the fact that when I have time to read a few pages the book is somewhere else, this site offers the perfect solution for me.

The book catalogue is a respectable size and contains many of the classics. The sort of books that you always wanted to read but dont have the time to do it. This lets you do it. A little during a lunch break, while you're on the can, on the train, whatever. It is an extremely casual tool.

Here is the link again: Daily Lit

    Seriously, check it out.

hmm. that looks pretty good. i likes the idea. the problem with books online has always been the not wanting to read them on the screen for hours at a time, but maybe it could work broken into little pieces. I'll give it a shot.

I still love my paper books though!

My brother has a tablet pc, and he reads books off of it all the time. I had always cringed whenever I tried to read a book that way. There is definitely no substitute for a proper reading, for that you need a big comfy couch, an old paperback with the worn book smell, and a nice beer. I just don't have the time for reliably doing that now a days.

I personally would hold something like this as an exception. It is meant to be episodic like a comic book, and it is small enough doses where you can skim your daily read literally in a few minutes. And like Kalle said, this is a nice way to slowly read books you normally wouldn't.

As for my first book, I picked Bram Stoker's Dracula. I've been 'slow reading it' late at night before I sleep, but I never read more than 20 pages at a time. Slowly but surely I have been pecking away at the book and am nearly done with it. I only subscribed to it using this DailyLit thing as quick test and have no want to start reading the book over. I'm planning on finishing reading the real Dracula book on my nightstand and by then I should have made up my mind on which book to read next.

Right now I have it narrowed down to either Macbeth/Hamlet or Frankenstein.

    Decisions =/

I picked Macbeth.. I haven't ever read it before because.. I don't know it just seemed overwelming. But I got my little bit to read last night and I read it.. and I think I can handle reading it in little snipts.. it gives me time to ponder what I read while I do other things.. and then when I am ready.. there is the next part. very cool

    You two havent read Macbeth?!

    And no Hamlet!

Macbeth is one of my all time favorite stories ever! And Hamlet makes the list, too!

OoOo! You're in for a treat!

...now I'm going to pick one.

Actually, I read both in high school. And when I say 'read', I mean those were probably the only two assigned readings that I actually did read cover to cover back then.

Nothing wrong with rereading something you have read before.
