Tor Books has announced that the a writer has been picked to finish Memory of Light



I read the article and checked out the guys website.. and he seems like a good choice..

according to the article Harriot is excited about it.. and will be editing for him.



I think i'll pick up a book written by this guy to better get a feel for him.

Yea, I read about this the other day.

I am not sure how I feel about it. I read the interview on dragonmount and he seems... well, childish. The fact that he cares most about the Perrin storyline has me cringing. I'll buy Memory of Light regardless, but I'm not holding my breathe on it being what I want it to be.

i just skimmed that interview, and it says a couple of places how he's using Jordan's notes and what was written before Jordan's death, but i wonder just what type of language the actual contract uses as to how short (or long) his leash is with that type of thing.

seriously, jordan created wonderful worlds and birthed this great story...but by the end of book 8 i was sick of the way he wrote...

its awful that he died but i'm actually looking forward to the final book now that its in someone elses hands-it'll still in essence be jordans story but i can't see the writing being any more annoying or painstakingly random as jordans...i think the series may be saved by this finale in anothers hands...hell heh starwars was alot better when not in its creators hands

I agree. I'd have liked RJ to have a crack at bringing in his runaway plot lines, but that's not going to happen. Maybe this new bloke can bring it home because he doesn't have those annoying MacGuffins running around his head.

In the end, good luck to him. It could have been much, much worse. They could have got Eddings to finish it.

Knife of Dreams was actually a pretty good book and had brought back the series to what it was back before Crown of Swords. The series is far from perfect, and Robert Jordan is not the perfect author, but the shoes to fill are rather unique. My only worry is that this Sanderson fellow puts too much of what he likes in the series, and not enough attention is paid to the rest.

A half of a book devoted to Perrin and Faile will liably get me to toss the book in a fire.

me too. unless it ends with a very very very painful horrific death for Faile.. then it would probably end up being my most favorite book out of the whole series.. and i'd have the pages detailing her death framed and hung on my wall..

Anyway, I'm glad there is a writer, that gives me a glimplse of hope for this series to end and for me to get on with my life . We all knew that whichever author was picked, he or she would always find a lot of resistance in the WoT comunity.

A part of me can't believe this series might actually end one day. The porspects of days following the last page of the series brings me images of a brave new world .

nah, in all ernest, it's a bit like sex. It's nice when it lasts long, but eventually you need it to end.
