    Default Quill Book List 2008

Should be pretty straightforward... I'm going to keep a list of all the books I finish this year. Not for competition as such, just to keep up, you know, and try not to forget. Competition should not be frowned upon though. Reading is good for you. Besides, any man, at least, should not pass by an opportunity to say "Mine's longer than yours"

And to who might know... It is possible to edit a single post throughout a year, no?

edit: yes, yes it is. unless we ban you in the meantime. or, you know, the internets as we know them collapse in a catastrophic apocalyptic event. -arch

I am going to include a five smiley rating system. It indicates my level of enjoyment and engagement with the work.

    Novels

    Eric Wilmot - Pemulwuy (5/5)
Anonymous - The Bride Stripped Bare (4/5)
    Herman Hesse - Steppenwolf (3/5)
Chrisopher Koch - The Memory Room (4/5)
Victor Hugo - The Hunchback of Notre Dame (5/5)
John Fowles - The French Leuitenants' Woman (4/5)
Robertson Davies - Fifth Business, 1st in the Deptford Trilogy (4/5)
Roberston Davies - The Manticore, 2nd in the Deptford Trilogy (3/5)
Roberston Davies - World of Wonders, 3rd in the Deptford Trilogy (3/5)
Zadie Smith - White Teeth (5/5)

    Short Stories

Karen Blixen - The Dreaming Child (3/5), The Sailor Boys Tale (4/5), Peter and Rosa (5/5)
Primo Levi - The Mnemogogues (4/5), Angelic Butterly (2/5)

    Graphic Novels

Garth Ennis/John Higgins - Hellblazer, The Son of Man (3/5)
Grant Morrison - The Invisbles "Say you Want a Revolution" (2/5)
Grant Morrison - The Invisibles "Apocalipstick" (3/5)

Arch is winning so far. He has an unfair advantage working in a bookshop! It's a scam! It's a rort! *pouts* j/k
On that note... the quill won't let me put up more than ten smileys at once. This is also a rort! I suppose my five smiley rating was doomed from the start... how sad. Oh well, fractions it is then!

I have a funny feeling there's going to be a theme going in this post for me....

    January:
Star Trek: DS9 #18 - Saratoga - Michael Jan Friedman
Star Trek: DS9 #20 - Wrath of the Prophets - Friedman, Peter David, Robert Greenburger
Star Trek: Gateways Book 1 of 7 - One Small Step (TOS) - Susan Wright
Star Trek: TNG #34 - Blaze of Glory - Simon Hawke

    Feburary:
    Wicked - Gregory Maguire

oh, and do re-reads count, or just books we've finished the first time through?

Someday...*sigh* someday I'll live in a world that appreciates me. But not today, I sense.

    Faith without works is dead.

27/08 Damn. I can hardly remember what I've been reading. I've read all of the aSoIaF books again bar the latest, V for Vendetta, some Ken Wilber, some Proust, some Ursula le Guin, Flann O'Brien, Hugo, Nabokov, and that's about it.

I know I said the next two books will be pure fluff but I ordered them online and its part 2 and 3 of a series but I got part 3 but not part 2 and I need to read part 2 first or part 3 will not make sense or make part 2 not as exciting.

He is doing very well indeed. But it should be said that if anyone's cheating at the moment it is probably I, going around not working or studying or anything. Any idea how much time that allows for reading? As for why I'm not winning... Everybody knows hobos are barely literate, so it is a struggle
