    *sigh*

    Is anyone else watching this?

I feel like a total snob watching this show, turning up my nose at this and that. I'm always going on about how I shouldn't have any expectations going in to see any sort of movie and here I go being biased with this show.

The powers of the sword are downplayed to being nothing more than some "magic" sword.
Zed is first wizard, not some wizard fire throwing incapable jerk.

The tipping point for me was the latest episode. Denna captures Richard and takes him to some special Mord Sith temple that apparently only has 4 people in it. He gets tortured, and then just uses his need to save Kahlan to break her hold over him. In the books, a confessor's power is an agonizing death to a mord sith. Between that nonsense and the lack of intro explaining how the sword works when Zed first give it to him, .... omfg. It's like George Lucas took the Sword of Truth series and reamed the ream a couple times for good measure before whoever took charge of this crap.

This show is just terrible. I hope it gets axed. I hope it dies a miserable death. I'd risk never seeing any one of my books ever being made into a mini series again in the hopes that this sadistic travesty discontinues.

I mean, really... what were they thinking?

well, after you said all that, i just had to go and watch the first episode. Overall, I'd say it's adequate, probably a bit better than I would have expected, though not quite as jokey (though I'm sure that will come). I did think that the pilot seemed a little rushed, in too much of a hurry to explain things quickly - oh hey, you're the seeker! here's your mission, and by the way, this is a confessor, he's not your dad, and oh yeah, go kill this guy, ok? I thought the opening sequence was pretty gorgeous, though I'm a sucker for rippling fabric and hair whipping through the wind in slow motion. I imagine that I'll probably watch the rest of the episodes as I find them available online, but that's mostly because this is the kind of show I can put on while I'm knitting or spinning and only half pay attention to.

I would have liked to have seen Kahlan actually commanding the men she touches, because it's just nonsensical that she touches them and they turn into bersekers, killing everyone in sight. Also, it's a little disappointing to see how quickly and gleefully Richard turns into a killer, with nary a thought in his mind about whether it's right or wrong. Fah. It's not the worst show I've ever watched (trust me, I've spent the past two weeks watching and re-watching Flavor Flav's amazing sitcom Under One Roof - again - not to mention all the Painkiller Jane I've been subjected to) so this is just merely "meh".

If you are interested in watching the rest, use www.hulu.com
It's the hosting server that all the broadcast companies use to stream stuff on their sites. Legend of the Seeker is on there among other stuff.

Honestly, the first few episodes were entertaining to a degree but the last episode rubbed me the wrong way and now this thing can go die in a fire.

ah, thanks for the link! it can be a pain in the butt sometimes when you want to watch a show on the network's website, and all you get is "this content is not available in your area", because 45 minutes north of the 49th parallel is SOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooo far away, and the politics, language, and more importantly, currency, are so radically different that internet video must be blocked from coming here!

    edit:
oh, nevermind. Hulu gives me the same message, but doesn't even pretend to let me click on video.

I must say that the latest episode was more entertaining from a comedy standpoint than the action that they've been throwing around, with Zedd getting more showtime and doing things that a first wizard would do besides throwing fire around.
