I tried watching NCIS but I only got 30 seconds into it before I had to change it.

I watched the series premeire of Dollhouse. While I liked it in general there were times it was unsettling. I think I will need to watch it a couple of times to see if the unsettliness goes away or grows.

Theres just something about it, I cant quite put my finger on why. Its vaguely creepy. The two actresses who were in the show doing little scripty things during the commerical breaks just added to the creepiness.

    Did anybody else watch it?

i taped it and I'm going to watch it tomorrow. My boyfriend was here for the weekend, and he has a ridiculous hatred for all things Joss Whedon, and while I could have watched it and forced him to hang around while I did, I figured I'd enjoy it more without his constant sniping.

yeah, i didn't see it, but i'm curious as to what people think of it. i'm not a big joss whedon fan, with the noted exception of Firefly, which i absolutely love, but i want it to do well just based on the fact that it's sci-fi, and the world needs more mainstream sci-fi and fantasy.

this is also why i'm so disappointed with the SoT series. Though, i watched an episode the other night, and if you just forget that this is based on a book series, it wasn't so bad. and frankly, the books suck anyway, so it's not too bad to just let the ties to them go. the series kind just ends up being something like a xena/hercules series. that the episode i saw contained ted raimi probably did something to spur on that comparison though.

Re: Dollhouse. I liked it. I thought it's not the most original premise in the world, and draws some inevitable comparisons to the Pretender and even more recently the cancelled-after-5-episodes My Own Worst Enemy (in which Christian Slater plays a guy who routinely has his memory wiped and has two personalities, so yeah, pretty obvious comparison there). That said, I think the pilot episode was "alright", and I think that it has some places where it can go (unlike MOWE, which mined all of it's territory in the first episode and left the viewer wondering only "how can this concept be dragged out for a year." Answer: it couldn't). Dollhouse has some decent talent, and I can only hope that it gets a fair shot and grabbing and holding viewers. I'll keep watching, because I like Eliza Dushku and Amy Acker, and I'm sure it's going to get better with time, as most series do tend to do.

I did think it was very un-Whedon-like. Not a lot of humour in it yet, I wonder when that will start to kick in.

Okay, so what's true in january aren't always true in april.

    -old, stupid saying

Anyway, there's been a revision in my favourite series. New top 5 looks like this

    Sopranos

    The Wire

    Six Feet Under

    Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

    Seinfeld

The Wire is the latest I've been watching. Just went out to pickup season five, and probably will devour it before the weekend's over. I loves it!

I really thought I'd fall off after the second season when they killed my favourite character, Stringer Bell, but it just keeps upping it's game. I've now seen the police-drug game from four angles, and I can't wait to start on number five. Also did a quick revisit to Haruhi, and realized she deserves a spot on that list

So after finally getting my flatmate to give anime a chance and to watch cowboy bebop he got me in exchange that i watch the wire...a show that i've heard so much good stuff about that i knew it'd never live up to the hype...so i watched the first season...and though its not bad by any means and i can see why folk like it, it's nothing perticularly amazing. Somewhere between csi and law and order but its no shield and by no means have i seen anything that makes it must watch telly...i'll carry on with it as like i said, its by no means a bad show...but i seriously don't get the hype. Maybe its that i can't shake from my head that the main detective is the guy from 300 and that the main badboy is the star of the fantastic Remember the Titans ~shrugs~ oh and that the writers just stole morgan freemans character in seven and gave it to another actor for it.

new episodes of red dwarf air in the nxt few days and from the ads its not looking too good but we're still going to make a night of it.

bah, in terms of character development and wonderful story telling Naruto still tops it for me...and Bebop is close behind...to live action tv-battlestar's finale left me with a bad taste in my mouth and the other big shows like Lost, Heroes and Fringe have lost my interest as they reek of writing by committee with only a concept as a base to work on and no plan for the future.

Dammit, i want a second season of Claymore, the manga has been superb and whilst i'm ranting damnation a second season of Firefly and Space Aboce and Beyond would not go amiss either!

Fringe... man... apoc mentioned it, is anyone else still watching? i know some others around here were slightly interested when it first came on.

anyway, i just watched the newest episode. (on a side rant, how stupid is it that tv seasons now show reruns during the middle of the seasons? or just stop entirely for some craptastic limited run reality show?) anyway, i think i'm off fringe. it was fun for the first few concept episodes, but this last one was thoroughly underwhelming. and exactly what apoc said.

i've seen bits and pieces of the most recent Lost episodes (my wife watches most of them) to know that it pretty much seems FUBARed.

Lost makes me laugh. It's as though someone was writing a script and every 5 minutes said "hey, you know what would be cool? _____! Yeah, let's do that." And then, after it gets shot, they look at it and go "meh. I guess that wasn't as cool as I thought. But you know what would be REALLY cool? _______! Yeah! Let's do that instead!" Then, three years later, they're watching back episodes and go "oh yeah! Crap, I forgot all about that story line. We should bring that back so people think we planned it that way!"

Still, I'll watch season 5 when it's all over and done with. More out of curiosity than anything else. It hasn't been "good" since the first season, just "weird". Which is good enough for me.

I'm really enjoying Dollhouse. I was a bit concerned that the premise didn't really have enough to keep it going for more than a few episodes, but I'm finding that they're handling it all well enough and opening up new bits that it's all good.

I still hold that the first season of Lost is awesome TV. My personal favorite season of TV ever. It started dragging a bit after that, but its been picking up in the last two seasons. I really enjoy it anyway

And, I don't think its all random. I not clever enough, or have time enough, but people out there on the interwebs keeps track of so many small details and find reasonably consistant meanings. But, it *could* be just luck...

I felt the same way almost until the end of the first season, then loved the second... Very nervous about number three for reasons that will become obvious, but it just kept getting better. Hang in there

    COWBOY BEBOP!

Man! I haven't watched that in FOREVER. I'm going to have to have a talk with the TiVo Gods and see if they can round up some episodes for me.

Today, I found 'Joan of Arcadia' on the SciFi chanel! I LOVED that show.

And speaking of...what's her face...did anyone catch 'The Unusuals' the other night?! It's intriguing so far.
