Although our house was broken into, it happened right before our insurance expired so we were able to squeeze the claim in for the stolen stuff.

I made it to work safe and sound in my new car! THEN, in seven hours I did a LOT of real work AND a lot of writing. Of course, the best part was that at the end of my 7 hours, Sara came for her shift and I stayed for 4 more hours eating Chipotle and catching each other up on our lives (okay, and a bit on the lives of others). THEN we had an adventure at the gas station.

    THEN...I made it home safe!

Which I was thankful for because it meant I got to get on the internet and come to Quill and see all my favorite people!

    And, yeh! Mike DOES rock!

I showed a corportate tick, aka consultant, where to stuff his money-saving pencil today

He was arguing I should be moved down to the level of the other extra-hands in my shop and I said, well and why? He pointed out I don't have managerial responsabilities anymore and so shouldn't be paid for it. I pointed out my contract never said anything about being moved down in salary after whatever had expired, but then said okay, here's my working history, and as far as I can see that means legally you can move me down two steps... With the amount of hours I'm putting down these days that means about 25 bucks a month. You're welcome to it! All I got in the other end was umm... umm... and then I added that even though I wont even notice the 20 bucks I might get offended by the very belittling act of moving me down the ladder and quit.

...of course, the badass thing here would be to just hang up, but really he's quite a nice guy trying to defend his paycheck, so we talked for a bit and I don't think my wages going anywhere

Seriously, you're a billion dollar corporation, if something's wrong I don't think the right way to go about fixing it is annoying your employees with pointlessly small reductions like that. And no, it was not like there is hundreds of people in this situation, there's only me, so the net saving per month would be 20 bucks. Silly people

A year or two ago, I was in a store and they had some of those super cheap DVD sets, you know the ones, like "13 hours of Hitchcock on 3 DVDs! $3.99". I bought two of these (both Hitchcock sets) and promptly forgot all about them, except for once several months ago when I saw them on the shelf and was like "oh yeah! I bought those. Nope, still not in the mood for ancient B&W Hitchcock movies", and then resigned them once more to the pile of crap I forgot I bought. Then last night, I thought to myself, "Hey, I AM in the mood for those movies!" and then I had to search all over the place for where they might be, but then I found them, and fell asleep watching one last night, but when I got up this morning, I said to myself, and my cat, "hey, I will watch another movie this morning while I knit this scarf for my sister since my mom stole the other one I made her because she liked it too much".

I put on "the Lady Vanishes", and I have to say, it was awesome. It was one of the most awesome movies I've seen in ages. Then I watched "Rich & Strange" and it was also similarly awesome (though not quite as genius as The Lady Vanishes).

Anyway, now I'm happy that all that length of time ago, I saw fit to spend the $5 on movies I wasn't sure I'd ever watch.

    The End.

    I bought a new CD!

I also had a very interesting conversation with a coworker whom I'd never actually had a conversation with before. He amuses me.

I've had a really good week! Cleared up my head! Found some new energy! Fought for my hourly wage! Made out with a nice girl! Hooked up two friends! (If you're having girl problems I feel bad for you son, but pass Phil Collins the mike and the game is won!)

And the coming week has less work! More travel! Switzerland!

Now I'll hit the sack. This gratuitous use of exclamation marks really exhusted me

Eyre, I wouldnt pass the mic to Phil Collins when one of friends is around. She will kill him. She will run up to him and shove his eyes into his head with her thumbs, scalp him and make him eat it then stomp on him a couple of times.

Its scary that I know how he will die if he runs into my friend.

things that make me giddy or just smile eh? people getting hit in the head by things always cracks me up...like this - ball meet face. heh anything that caters to my somewhat sadistic dark side has me in glee. Travelling and i guess the mystery of not knowing what the next day will bring excites me...in other words i'm not into constant routine day after day.

I love the silence before a film begins...especially one i've been waiting to see for ages...or a game...anticipation of something i've been looking forward to....like seeing knew things for the new res evil game, been waiting like two years for this game and every new peek has me yearning for it more...everyday til its release is another day closer and that makes me happy.

i also love fridays when i can get the new chapters of naruto and bleach and tuesdays are an oh goodie night also as battlestar is on

when i'm at work i don't really pay attention to the time, i just go with the flo, but it is an awesome oh goody moment when i'm just doin my thing and i get told i can go home coz my shifts over

sometimes, my favorite part of going to the movies is seeing the previews for the other movies. almost always, i'm like, "wow, i wish i was seeing that now, instead of whatever i am seeing".

once the movie starts, all is forgotten, but, i sure do love those previews.

also, i really like my job. i just wish that i could work enough hours there to pay the bills.

I had an excellent day at work on Sunday!

For starters, no one knew I was covering for the girl I covered for, so I had the hourly schedule SHE usually works. That meant I spent more time over in movies and music than I've ever spent there since I started the job. It also meant I didn't have any hours in kids! I <3 kids...but I don't like their parents. So, it was SO nice to spend a whole day not dealing with stressed out soccer moms!

While I was in music, I found the CDs of this Mexican band some dad-aged guy had been looking for. He told me not to worry about going to our warehouses website, but it was slow so after he walked away-I looked anyway. Then I had to chase him down. But he was thoroughly impressed with my awesomeness. And, I got to talk music which is an area where I rarely feel inferior. Also while in music I helped a lady find a book (normally, I'd have been annoyed with someone for coming to music to ask about a book, but she was 90...and adorable) she read when she was a very, very young girl. (Whenever they start off with, "I read it when I was a little girl," it's almost always a good sign we WON'T have it. But we DID!) She said she would always look for ME, first, from then on.

Also, I made an Updike display. I suggested it to B and he said, "Oh, yes! We should definitely have one!" THEN he said, "There's a podium on the way to information that is open. That would be a great place for it!" THEN he said, "Why don't you make a sign for it, too?!" Lots of people have little displays...you're always allowed to face out a book and make a little index card sized sign with a review of the book. But I got a flippin' podium! AND an 8x11 sign! I felt pretty cool.

Lastly! I think I have a section! We've been pulling stuff (that doesn't sell well or has newer editions) to send back to the warehouse. They asked me if I wanted to try to find some in a couple areas no one had gotten to. I said sure, I like a challenge. First I did sports. It runs along the outside of one corner. On the cases on the inside of the corner are psychology, which I did next. And on the back of psychology, in one case, is Erotica.

Apparently my co-workers are afraid of being caught in Erotica, because things were seriously a mess over there. I found ALL the books for the pull in that section. Then, when I brought them back, I volunteered to organize the section when I'm in on Thursday. SO on Thursday one of my hours will be marked off "Erotica." I'm pretty excited! I'm excited to have a section that I can reorganize. I'm excited that I've been trusted with the task. And, I'm excited that my section is Erotica!

...Hopefully I won't get too caught up reading.

    PS-I REALLY love this thread!!!!!!!!!
