And one of those things is the "close the door" button in elevators. The doors close automatically, so why bother. If you can't wait one more second, you shouldn't have waited on the whole damn elevator to arrive in the first place. Take the stairs. It gets worse when the first person to enter the elevator first presses the floor button and then immediately the close button as if there's no one left on the planet.

So, please, don't make those stupid close buttons anymore. They don't serve a real purpose and in reality only accommodate anti-social behavior.

Oh I love those buttons! I swear I only use them when there is no one running for the lift. Also I hardly ever use lifts so I love everything about lifts. They are so novel! (We are a country of short buildings mainly)

Annoying colleague avoidance strategy: This individual fecks about with their security pass, juggling their "triple strength" mocha and chocolate croissant, while I, having finished my short black, am waiting for the lift. Lift arrives, they're on the wrong side of the security barrier. I step in the lift, press the close door button, and voila, I've avoided four floors of retarded dialogue. No awkward moments of holding a lift door for ages for a numpty that hasn't mastered basic co-ordination.

I suppose I could take the stairs, but since that sets off the fire alarm, I try to avoid it.

The other situation is to avoid riding the lift with a massive group of people who are going to stop at every fucking floor to the ground. You see the herd of public servants slowly making their way to the lift, press the close door, and hey presto, you're at ground floor without having to overhear a ministerial briefing in the lift doorway every fucking floor. Drink coffee, back to work and no one needs to be stabbed.

Of course, there is the use of the close door button to crush idiot colleagues in the doors. I don't want to fill in the paper work, so I don't do that.

I think we should get rid of feminism.
