    Default Wedding guest book

So, wedding plans have begun. And apparently, despite my best attempts, I am still being left in charge of a (very) few things. The current one is the guest book. I think we have found something we both like...

    http://www.etsy.com/listing/62584104...alized-leather

But we are struggling with what to have burned into the cover. I think the sample they show "Two trails become one road" isn't bad. But I think with the minds that pass through here we might come up with something better...

    Cheers!

I really like the sample quote.

But, do you know what vows you're saying? There are a few different standard routes to go with those, if you're not writing you're own. Maybe a line or few words from those or from a reading you're having or the song you're dancing to for the first dance?

Or a definition! Like, "Love n. A profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person."

I tried finding some good quotes about guests/family/company. Since it's, you know, the guest book. But I fell short.

Last, here are some Tolkien (and one Bronte) quotes that I think are sweet or romantic in their own ways. But, maybe that's just me...

"Fear both the heat and the cold of your heart, and try to have patience, if you can." -Tolkien (Unfinished Tales)

"I am glad you are here with me. Here at the end of all things, Sam." -Tolkien (RotK) (But, maybe just the first sentence)

"A single dream is more powerful than a thousand realities." -Tolkien

"If by my life or death I can protect you, I will." -Tolkien (FotR)

"Don't go where I can't follow!" -Tolkien (TT)

"All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us." -Tolkien (FotR)

"Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same. " -Bronte (Except that it's from Wuthering Heights...not exactly the most healthy relationship. But it's a beautiful quote on it's own)

I think that book is just right! One of my favorite love quotes is "My whole heart for my whole life".

How about "winter is coming"? !!!joking! joking! (but, come on, it would make people laugh)

I'd suggest something else, but I'm 90% sarcasm, and 5% bitter and 4% dark and broody, and only 1% romantic, so I'm probably the least helpful person ever when it comes to sweet wedding junk.

I'd put a picture of a cavewoman dragging her caveman back to the cave by his feet, so you can see I'm not at all qualified for this kind of advice. Or maybe a stylized wedding ring that looks like a handcuff?

    ~fleas~

    ~returns~

actually I always liked the quote about if you love something let it go, if it returns, it was meant to be. But I don't know how appropriate that is for a wedding book.

"It is the nature of love to bind itself, and the institution of marriage merely paid the average man the compliment of taking him at his word."

I like the one above by CS Lewis but then that is more of a response to Miss Haversham here... I mean Anita Blake than for the book.

You may have already settled this matter, but I love these conversations! Though really you should tell us what aspect of the wedding you want to focus on. Do you want it to be about lasting love? Being joined together? Your youthful spirits? Or do you want a picture instead of a phrase? Really, there are so many possibilities

Here are some fairly popular love quotes:

"Love is love's reward" - John Dryden
"Love is the master key that opens the gates of happiness" - Oliver Wendell Holmes
"Love begets love" - Theodore Roethke
"Unable are the Loved to die, For Love is Immortality" - Emily Dickinson

Or any part of the E.E. Cummings poem "I carry your heart with me."
Go then, there are other worlds than these.

You will know exactly who you are, forever, by knowing what it is that you love.

Nope, it hasn't been decided yet. Right now I'm leaning towards something that implies the beginning of a story. "Once upon a time" that isn't "Once upon a time", but I'm struggling to come up with just the right thing.

Hmm that's a good challenge. Like "A long time ago in a galaxy far far away" - StarWars
Or " There once was a boy( or girl).

    "Once, long ago, there was"

"In a land, far, far away"

Maybe you just need to get a bigger guestbook!

I like the whole "beginning" theme, and the "My love, I'll tell you a tale" line. I'm having trouble thinking of anything off the top of my head, though... I'll have to ponder this for a while

In the mean time, here are some cliché quotes brought to you by finestquotes.com:
"Making the beginning is one third of the work" - Irish proverb
"All great deeds and all great thoughts have a ridiculous beginning" - Albert Camus (but not a good way to describe meeting your wife, unless the situation was, in fact, ridiculous)
"All glory comes from daring to begin" - Eugene F. Ware (makes your marriage sound like a swashbuckling good adventure )

There's also a quote on there that I don't like but it ends with "Look at what can be" and I thought that sounded nice.

EDIT: This isn't as fitting with the storytelling theme, but you could go with West Side Story and use "Make of our hearts one heart" (or any part of that song. "One Hand, One Heart")
