Well been going on various campouts and hiking trips lately, so I've decided to put up some of the pics I took. Sadly the pics just can't capture the essence of actually being there, but it'll just have to do. These first 2 batches are from my digital camera, but also took some regular pictures which I'm getting developed soon, so will prolly put those up sometimes soon if they're any good.
These first two trips were to Mountain Lake (same mountain that hosts the lodge where the movie "Dirty Dancing" was filmed) in the Appalachian Mountains in Virginia. The first section is at a lookout called War Spur. The second one is one ridge over from War Spur called on Wind Rock which is over 4,000 ft up. Well, hope yah enjoy!
1) Hiking to top of mountain
2) Looking to the far right of lookout

But I know what you mean about capturing the essence of the mountains. Unless the mountains are very dramatic, like the western rockies, it can be pretty hard to capture the true beauty. Usually I'm lucky to end up with even a hint of it. Cool pics though
