    Default WoT Discussion

Wheel Of Time by Robert Jordan.
Now I definately know most of you have read this series and I have seen most of your views and theories on it a thousand times over, but I still feel that though its got a bit boring over the last few books, its still a great series.

Oh, you get the idea, who's your fave character and so on.

Ummm, I really like the background characters, people like Bashere, Birgitte, Lan and so on. Out of the main characters though probably Rand.

I still think one of the best moments was the very last line of the first book when Moraine simply says, "The Dragon is Reborn", It was sooo simple but it was also sooo cool, I thought. Obviously Falme was another great part of the series.

Isn't there another book out sometime in our lifetime? Just curious...

My favorite character...its hard, there are a lot of them I like aspects of. I guess if I absolutely had to chose, it would be Moiraine. Something about the absolute dedication to a purpose that she believes is good and right.

I guess this was a pretty useless thread, its all been discussed already.

It may become useful in the future when the next book arrives, but until then it will stay in the dark recesses of the Quill- waiting.

One question though, will any of you stop reading it after the farce that was Crossroads of Twilight?

I love WoT ^_^ Lets see, my fav girl characters are Moiraine and Min. Both women are true to themselves, without the male bashing I see from people like Elayne and Nynaeve. For men, I like Mat. He is just so...umm....cute? LOL! Na, really tho, he is a very interesting character, with all the of the old memories he has.

I have a couple favorite parts of the books...one, when Perrin finds out his whole family is murdered. I cried right along with him! Also, the battle at Dumai's Well. OH I also found the rituatal*sp* for becoming First Sisters very very interesting! I like almost everything to do with the Aiel race tho.

Anyway yeah, I just saw an advert for the superman early years show- Smallville. And I instantly looked at the guy that plays Clark as the perfect guy to play Rand. Its unbeleivable how much he looks like what I think Rand looks like.

    don't get your hopes up.

i'm of the school of thought that thinks jordan should have stopped while he was ahead. namely, idealy after book 1, book 3, or book 6, imo. and yes, not everything would be resolved, but as it is not everything is going to be resolved or explored in the world. i read tEotW probably 10 times before i ever even looked for tGH. it's a great story, and could stand alone. in fact, i think adapting any part of this series to movie, the easiest would be just to adapt the first book and have it end there.

frankly, i don't need to have all the little details explored by jordan. and actually, he fails to follow his own advice. perhaps some people will recall the figs? some things are just best left up to your reader's imagination. i'll certainly finish out the series, but the only reason i own them all up to this point is because people keep buying them for me. i say just get to the end already.
I have given pleasure to the world because I have such a beautiful ass!

Hi. I'm CTC...and I, also, am addicted to Wheel of Time.

I buy every book in hardback within a week of its release (if I have the money). I reread the series at least once a year.

*hangs head in shame and sits down*

But seriously, I have to admit my favorite male Character is, and always has been, Perrin. He's been pissing me off a lot lately, but I'm still on his side. And female...I have to go with Malc on this one and say Moiraine...stately, poised and a tough nut to crack.

I am looking forward to New Spring (Tuesday!) because I'm one of those people who like side stories to be explained a little better...I like books that are solely about minor characters in the main work...they explain motivation and origin...granted, Lan and Moiraine can hardly be called minor characters, but I'm still looking forward to reading it. *nods*

    and to all you naysayers...
    Victory is mine!! [/Stewie]

Someday...*sigh* someday I'll live in a world that appreciates me. But not today, I sense.

    Faith without works is dead.

"Expanded from a story that first appeared in Robert Silverberg's anthology Legends (1998), Jordan's eagerly awaited prequel to The Wheel of Time™, the first of a projected three, more than lives up to its high expectations... Written with all the skill that has made Jordan one of the grand masters of fantasy, it's accessible enough for new readers, while the inside information is sure to captivate longtime fans."

He's already working on Book 11. The first prequel, New Spring, was just a short break.

Well, Spring 2005 isn't too long of a wait, neh?

Anyways, the man has been writing this stuff for 15 years, he deserved a small breather. And New Spring was well worth it.
