haiku you!

Ok. was bored. wrote some haiku. thought, hey, why not make a haiku thread to separate the regular poetry from the ancient art of japanese poetry.

So post your little hearts away. And if you don't know what a haiku is, it's a short poem with 3 lines, the first and third line consisting of 5 syllables, and the second line with 7 syllables. i believe that traditionally a nature theme is preffered, but since we are modern and love to perpetually defy tradition, i don't think anyone is going to hold you to that.


here's some i wrote yesterday while i was at work.



darkened swords of light
guide me to your hiding place
i have known your soul

in the darkest night
you're a mirror of my heart
how your dark light shines

belladonna eyes
dreams of a crow haunt me so
and you, eternal

without fear i face
the monster in the garden
who looks much like me


sleep now beckons me
a world of dreams waiting there
do not tell me lies

I love haikus! And I think yours are really neat I'm not good at the serious stuff, just the more lighthearted ones, like:

Dear Anita Blake,
I will lie if I want to
Signed, the world of dreams

or

I'm envious now
I never would have thought of
"belladonna eyes"

I mock because I love.

But, since I like trying something new every once in a while...

i'm sitting at work
my student is very late
i want to go home

where i shall make soup

I wrote this one for somebody a while ago. She knows who she is.

Paper on the wind.
Come to kiss me, falling rain,
And I am ruined.

Temptation beckons
When you are near, my young friend
How can I resist?

My eyes grow weary
With every passing word
Until my soul sleeps.

the cat bites my feet
waking me from nightmares dark
i fall back asleep

tossing and turning
the dreams hungry for my soul
this night is far too long

Lovely beer, so cold
