We're up to Die Another Day (I think) The one with Halle Berry is next, and I dread it, since I seem to remember it was just plain awful. License to Kill was pretty bad. I like the Connery ones for the most part, and a couple of the Roger Moore ones, but for the most part, Roger Moore is a silly ass. I was pleasantly surprised with Timothy Dalton. And while I do love Pierce Brosnan, most of his Bond movies are pretty terrible. (I don't even count George Lazenby, since he was just dull.) I can barely remember which one is which, they are all kind of blending into a James Bond soup in my mind. I think my favorite might actually be The Living Daylights.

But yeah, the series as a whole is pretty firmly in camp territory. I'm OK with that.

OK, James Bond update: Die Another Day is definitely the worst Bond movie. At least A View to A Kill, you expected to suck balls. But Die Another Day? This might be one of the only movies that presents you with the direct opportunity to say the words "Madonna is a way better actress than Halle Berry".

(full disclosure: I have no idea how Halle Berry won an Oscar, I think she's a gorgeous woman, and a shitty, shitty actress.)

This movie is still happening in the background, but honestly, I've had too much to drink to take any more if it, which is a state that has been true since about 5 minutes before it started. In short, I don't know which is the best Bond movie, but Die Another Day is for sure the worst. Every scene is the new worst thing. why is this happening to me?!!!

I haven't seen them in a while, but Die Another Day worse than The World is Not Enough? I mean, if there's someone who can give Halle Berry a run for her money as a terrible actress, its Denise Richards.

Also, the odd thing about the Bond movies is that looking back, they're all campy, clearly. But I don't think they intend to be in the moment. right? it's hard to tell. it definitely feels to me like the newer ones are supposed to be closer to for serious action movies than they are action movies with tongue in cheek.

Halle Berry makes me long for the simple idiocy of Denise Richards.

I think it might come down to expectations though. Halle Berry won an Oscar at some point in her life and is considered a "serious" actress. Denise Richards married Charlie Sheen and starred in a movie called "Blonde and Blonder". You don't expect much from Denise Richards, in fact, you're more or less surprised when she opens her mouth and doesn't just drool, instead speaking coherent mouth-words (albeit with no force of intelligence behind them.) But for some weird reason, people think Halle Berry is smarter and a better actress, so when she opens her mouth and delivers a line that sounds like she has no idea of the context and looks like she's trying to please a dog trainer on set, it just hits you harder: "This woman is a terrible actress," you think, "But... she won an Oscar - film acting's highest achievement... how.... how could this be?". Then she continues to say things stupidly, and you want to punch her in the boob.

The World Is Not Enough is bland and ultimately forgettable, but Die Another Day is actively offensive and terrible. It's poorly shot, the sets looks obviously like sets and green screen, and even the action scenes are just terrible. I mean, the nods to the previous 19 movies are kind of fun, but so terribly pulled off that it makes you want to smack your head against a concrete brick.

    Hmm... Just as I thought...

    Okay.

Can we quit with those James Bond posts please before this whole place turns into a posting desert?!

Oh, anyone has experience publishing a magazine? Starting with absolutely nothing and ending with at least a complete digital copy.

i have experience in purchasing a digital magazine. I can tell you that they are pretty cool when done right. but as to how to actually make one, I'm going to guess it involves scissors, tape, and a lot of heartfelt montage music.

I took a class called "Magazine Publishing."

Do you want it to be an online magazine or do you want to try to make something and get actual people to buy adverts and have someone print/publish it?

Scissors and tape? I don't think that's me. At all. Unless you mean the clickable stuff.

And people buying things... sounds like a dream. Nah, it's all unpaid stuff, as usual. Just think of it as an online magazine. Smacked together in a pdf file for all I care.

I guess there's plenty of tools out there, but without cash that can be a hard thing. I found Scribus, which seems like a nice Open Source thing. So, okay, I can learn to work with that. Just wondering how to find content if I can't come up with anything. I can write an article, fine, maybe even two, but that's about it. And then it has to be all for free. There must be ways and resources. And information about Do's and Don't's, and such.

I've made newsletters for corporate/political types, regularly e-published... does that count? I had to hire a graphic designer for some templates, but then from there was all Adobe Acrobat.

It counts. It's much more then I have done. The graphic design is mostly done, at least. It should be easy, but still, content is king. And lacking...

What do you want the magazine to be about? If it's in English, I'd imagine you could get plenty of people to chip in. There are way too many unemployed writers in America right now that will happily work for free if it means they'll have "clips" and another line on their resume.

I leave for Florida in TEN DAYS! THEN! I'm there for (I think) EIGHT days.

During that time, I plan on doing the following:
    Swim
    Hang with Aunt & Uncle
    Hang with cousins
    Swim
    Work on cover letters/job finding
    Swim
Play with new baby second cousins
Tackle twins as much as possible
    Swim
