I always thought the first pancake fails because the batter actually improves as it sits and the flour absorbs the liquids. Also, it's best if the liquids are room temperature when you mix it. And let the batter sit for 30 minutes before you start making. Which no one ever does, because when you want pancakes, you want them now, not in 30 minutes!

They ARE good for waxing hardwood floors. That fluffy fur really gets into the nooks and crannys.
