oooh what did he say!! Did he know his uncle well?

I am getting a scan and hopefully find out if we're having a boy or girl this afternoon. It's very exciting for some reason I really have no sixth sense about this.

ooh, Fuschia, that's the MOST exciting! Do tell us!

Do you think there's any ethical issue with my reposting what he posted? I mean, it is on a public forum, right? Here's how it started:
RJN:Watching Lord of the Rings The Two Towers with the family. We just watched the part where the orcs and orukai (sp?) are arguing over eating Merry and Pippin, and on of the orcs is beheaded and they start ripping him apart to eat him. My son David said "That's gross!!" I said "Just imagine what the Trollocs put in their cook pots." Have you ever seen a 9 year old go white as a sheet with eyes like saucers? LMAO!!!

me:I woke up last Saturday morn to find my husband watching Fellowship with my six year old & my almost-four year old! I'm not sure it was our best parenting moment but by the time I got there they were all absorbed and it was so fun to share with them such an incredible story, and they LOVED it. I did have to stop hubby from explaining the entire backstory, though. My daughter is a HUGE reader, already reading 200pg chapter books, and I want her to be able to fully experience the whole story when she's ready.
However, I'm counting the days till they're both ready for me to start reading them WoT as a bedtime story. I've been waiting for that since long before I even became a parent. I figure if I start when The Boy (the little one) is around 8, it might last till their into their teens, haha! I probably won't be able to keep The Girl away from reading ahead herself, though, hah!

Ooooh NF I reckon if you start at 8 it will only take until about 11. It took less than a year to read hobbit and lord of the rings to my sister. And I think she was around 8 from memory!

And news is, it's a boy v cute too.

Wendy, from a mama's perspective... little boys are like a WHOLE new species! They are curious creatures and strange and unusual but SO much fun and super cuddly and they LOVE their mamas! So happy for you!

True story: I named both of my father's other children. My step-mom had been smitten with "Rebecca" for her entire pregnancy, but by the time she gave birth, she was sick of it. A few hours of going through baby-name books, and I said "Emma Jayne" and that was the end it it. Three years later, when she had my brother, she was evil-eyeing me and telling me I wasn't naming this one. She had really good girl names picked out, but nothing for boys, and of course she had a boy, and went through a million names. She was leaning towards Derek and no offense to anyone who may be a RL Derek here, but I had never met a Derek that was anything but a total jerk, so I knew I had to put the kibosh on that. I was a big Motley Crue fan, and was pushing her towards Vincent (because Vince Neil!) but she didn't like it because it was her father's middle name and she didn't want to name her son after her father (no idea why, her dad lived with us.) Eventually, I came up with Sean Vincent, (I can't remember where I got the Sean from), and even though it was really close to her dad's name, it ended up being the best sounding name anyone could come up with. She vowed vengeance on me and swore that she'd name my kids, but haha, I'm not having any!

The moral of the story is: I'm pretty decent at naming kids.

haha! Naming cats is more difficult, in my experience. But that may be on account of me not ever actually HAVING to name humans.

How about Phoenix? Griffin? River? I like noun names. Place names? India (Indy!), River, London...

I like the name suggestions! But I am maybe a bit too traditional to venture too far from common names. Not quite game to do place names. I like River tho. But maybe it's not macho enough for an Australian boy. But times are changing!
