Government approved travel? You going to Sleepy Hollow or into space?!
I prefer selecting the second option.
I always opt for the first selection.
I don't participate in polls.

So.itt urns out that the government ending up screwing us anyway. Long story short, there is one set of approvals that they haven't yet approved and are waiting to the very last minute too decide. That means we could not take the personal part of the trip, which cost is there better pay off a thousand bucks in non refundable reservations.
Life sucks. Hopefully this nightmare of an administration comes to an end with the next presidential election.

that sucks! it's not fun to burn cash when you don't even get to blow the smoke in people's faces. (did I destroy that metaphor? Or totally run with it and win? I truly have no idea any more.)
Your sense of self is defined by what you think other people think of you.

Nah, go with it! One last piece of the story. The government approved the conference yesterday. About 12 hours too late for us. ~rolleyes~
I should be in NY right now, experiencing all kinds of headless horseman goodness. Have tickets to a couple of events tonight that sound like they would have been fun. Instead, I'm at work, it's too cold outside, and it snowed just enough to make everything messy and slick!
Happy Halloween!

So Robert Jordan has a new book out. Not bad going for a dead bloke. Has anyone seen it yet? The Warrior of Altaii.
(I told you it was a mistake to let me have a signature.)
Why in Toronto does it seem to be custom to put a slice of citrus (lemon or lime) on a glass of Coke? And not water?
I didn't get that when I was in Vancouver earlier in the year.
Canadia! What a weird place....

You could put a slice of ice on a glass, but really... it would be very silly. Kinda like getting a cold drink by putting it on top of a bunch of ice cubes.
Anyway, a slice of lemon on a glass of Coke is kinda normal here. Or no slice at all. Just ice cubes. In the glass. Lemon on water? Only if you ask, I think.

Here lemon goes on the diet soda so you can tell the difference b/t diet and not.
Did I mention that I had a traumatic brain injury in 2016 and my brain has never fully recovered? I'm treasurer for the PTA this year and am working on the budget and sometimes I can feel my brain not quite firing the synapses necessary for full comprehension. It's frustrating. Sigh.

No, you did not mention that. Wow, NF... That is quite a bit of a shock actually. Also feeling a bit pissed you never told me. But I'm glad you're okay. Apart from an occasional misfire. We all have that in a way, but well, I guess we don't all perceive it as you do, if we even do at all, so all I'm saying here is... blah. Sorry
Life is frustrating. Work is frustrating. Diet Coke is frustrating. Lemons are sour.
And some villain sliced the water in the pook, so for the time being the diving tower if off limits!![]()

Sorry to hear that nf. Good that you're doing mostly okay, hopefully your mind will continue to adjust and make new pathways. Me, I can only blame age when I found myself in a different room wondering why I went there in the first place...

The original injury really messed me up. It was many months before I was remotely "back to normal". I was running after my kids on the playground and bonked my head on the underside of a metal bridge.
Now I have trouble doing two things at once, like if I'm doing something and you ask me a question, I will freeze for a minute, unable to complete either thing, then be like, okay I have to finish this, THEN you can ask your Q. Or I lose words sometimes, like I forget what something is called, that's really frustrating. Sometimes that happened before but now it Feels different. I can feel my brain not working right, it's so weird. All symptoms are worse when I'm tired or dehydrated.
I also sometimes have difficulty with reading comprehension, more so on devices and more so with instructional text.
The biggest thing is that I have a much lower tolerance for screen time now. When I first was injured I couldn't tolerate any screen time at all, for a long time. And not just video but exposure to tech in general. Like when it first happened, I couldn't drive for a while, and a friend picked me up to bring me to a Drs appt, and as soon as I got into her truck my head started to throb with pressure. She had a brand new truck with all the bells and whistles going on. I could barely stand it, it was overwhelming.
Now, my vision gets blurred and I can feel pressure in my head, or I'll get a headache if I do too much video. The smaller the screen, the worse the effect. It makes me very cautious about how much video my kids get, too.

Geez, poor NF... What can I say. Won't make it worse then I already did, but I am glad you are here![]()
