Sadly the Quillstead in Canada is no longer being rented out. Every so often I check again and my hopes are dashed. I really wanted to return with our little Quillets.

So many venues on the Sunshine Coast (west coast of BC, north of Vancouver). So many fun little cottages and YURTS!

I was thinking we need to have a Quillfest when the WoT TV show premiers. I was thinking San Francisco...

Took a trip up through Vancouver. Lovely. Stayed at a place called Nita Lake Lodge outside Whistler, wish me and the missus could have stayed weeks there.

Wait, y'all don't have heated bathroom floors where you live? Ok, technically, I don't either, but I work on home reno shows, and they are all the rage. According to home reno shows. Also, the whole area 'round these parts is fairly magical. Whistler is lovely, I think I took Wendy & James up there a million years ago...

Oh yay! So many lively quilters. I live stranger things. But then we bought a house next to the bush, so we can never watch season three. Auto correct says you are all quilters... Hehe.

My mother was a quilter. She tried to teach me when I was a kid, but I have none of her artistry. I suppose I will inherit her quilts eventually. She's not my favorite person but her quilts are really good.

I need a nice quilt, and not like a store bought one but a real hand stitched one. I’ve been wanting one since I read Alias Grace

Oooh, I have a whole handful of quilts my grandma made! They are fun, because she was old-school about stuff and many of her older quilts are made from bits of old clothes. Like my mom can point to squares and say "oh, I remember wearing those pajamas". Grandma was very much of the no-waste school of thought. Apparently, when bedsheets would get threadbare, she'd cut them in half, and sew the outside edges together to make them stronger in the middle, leaving the bare bits on the edge. She also washed and re-used her tinfoil. Her lifestyle was very much informed by growing up the the Great Depression, and I find it kinda funny that we're just now getting back to the wisdom of that era.
